Drive ins! Oh man! We used to go and there was a playground and we'd all be there, playing in our pj's. Then we'd lay down in the back of the station wagon and fall asleep before the movie was over. Probably didn't see a whole movie til I was 12! and as teens, we'd pile 20 people in the car because it was $5 a car load! those were great times. Saw "Urban Cowboy" every night for 2 weeks! Kids today don't know what they missed! OMG, I sound like my mother! |

In highschool we would all go to the DI every Friday night. Last movie I saw was the exorcist. I layed down in the back of the car with my hands over my ears, now when I see it I just laugh the whole time. I really miss the Drive-In. |
AS I mentioned before when I was 16 first vehichle was a Jeep Honcho pick up.. well it was great for the drive-in used to fill the bed with pillows ( off moms couch when she wasn't home) and blankets and go ask a few " boys" you were into to go with ya, it was great, 4-6 of us all laying in the comfy bed watchin' a movie...or not... |

Talk about children's brutal honesty.....last night we were at the grocery store shopping for my husbands upcoming fishing trip. My daughter (4 years old) hands the cashier the bag of chips and the cashier says "oh honey, are those for you?" My daughter replies, "Nope, they are for my daddy, he's going fishing and daddy says those fish will smell better than my mommy"!!!   I seriously thought I was going to die. I got in the car and called up my husband and asked him what the HE** has he taught my daughter......... it then dawned on me we had a conversation the night before about the smell of my hair (i just got it colored) and he said the fish would smell better than me. SOOOOOO not what I thought my daughter was talking about. Still, I am humiliated. The darndest things kids say. |

In answer to some of the posts..... Not real sure how he smushed her boobs in 'cause it was that hard plastic?? He was always abusing my toys, we have home movies of him beating up my stuffed animals :( Loved the drive-in movies....first memory I have is seeing chitty chitty bang bang (much better for family viewing than yours Deb!) with the whole family in the Ford Fairlane that had push buttons to change gears instead of a gearshifter! Also liked going when we were teens....you either had people laying in the floorboard or in the trunk so you wouldn't have to pay for them!! I saw Saturday Night Fever on a Christmas Eve with Jo Jo, but it wasn't at the drive in, so maybe that little tidbit doesn't fit in here :( Also, in my hometown they have built a new drive-in with 4 movie screens...sounds pretty neat...I haven't been back home yet, but want to go to the drive in when do get down...but anyway back on subject...they named the 4 screens after 4 old drive-ins that used to be in town...well the last one to close was The Goober drive in....trust me...ya didn't take your family to that one:eek: ...anyhoo...they named one of the screens after The Goober...told my husband...no way am I going to watch a drive in movie with my boys at The Goober...just wouldn't be right!! |
