I’ve been working all day long getting the pool opened up. Warm weather would be nice to finish filtering the water

the weather is mixed up and i am trying not to turn on the air yet but it was a bit warm last night

What did the temperature get to there? We got 84. I was out working on the pool getting it open and it took it out of me being in the warm air after not being used to it

74 midday 60 this morning

Had I not opened the pool up Saturday we’d be having a heat wave now

63 and raining

55 last I looked with a light mist

50 this morning with sunshine

Not sure what it is out there now. I just know it’s going to be 70 today. They’re far and few in between

If I could have one thing, it would be a new, cuddly, plush, very large teddy bear! Love teddies. As icing on the cake, I'd also have a huge 2 dip waffle cone of Peppermint with Dark Chocolate Chip Chocolate ice cream if the teddy-giver was feeling extra generous!

I live in North Texas and after last week's weather/power outage debacle and 2 nights in a hotel after 2 days and nights of freezing cold and no power, very long, dark, cold nights, even though our leftover snow melted in a day or so, I'm right there with you. Boo snow in Texas! Texas just can't manage long cold spells anymore. Back when we had fewer cold Northerners moving here to escape the snow, we managed -1 degrees and snow without power outages but now, we've apparently lost our ability to keep our growing population lit(the original meaning of the word) or warm!!!! I may have to install a wood-burning stove if we have many more of lower single digit temps :(

I've been so worried about our YT Texas friends, I'm almost ashamed to moan about my mere 3 1/2 feet (total month so far) snow after hearing how Texas got slammed with loss of power. What an ordeal that was for all of Texas.

Oh, thank you for caring but we're all mostly okay, though many are still struggling with getting burst pipes fixed, ruined ceilings, walls, flooring flooded from burst pipes! So many parts, etc. are on back order so they just mark time until the work can get done! Apparently power plant owners didn't "winterize" as they should have after 30 years of relatively mild winters and then we got slammed - so heads have rolled so to speak at Ercot, our power administrating agency.

But the title of this thread "If I could have one thing right now...." last week it would have been an hour lights & heat every 6 hours or so! I mean I didn't want to be a hog but you can get pretty cold and kinda spooked after 2 days of no heat, lights or anything! A warm hotel room with working lights and hot food was such a dream-come-true! Apparently all of the hotels and motels were taken so I was so grateful Dan found me a room. Yesterday, it was so warm we could have turned on the fan!

P. S. After 3 1/2 feet of snow in a month, I think I'd be sick of white, too! You make me feel ashamed after we got a measley 3 -6 inches for 4 days! Stay warm!

The people I’ve met from Texas are some great people but the powers that be suck. They were warned about this 10 years ago and did nothing to prepare. That was a motto in Boy Scouts I adhered to, always be prepared.
The ten inches we got here was just an annoyance, we have plows and salt trucks.
I’m so fed up with this greed before people attitude in this country.

Yep we got a lotta snow but fortunately lost no power. I have a stand by generator now, if power goes out, 20 seconds later the generator kicks on, so I wasn't fearful of no power. Before I bought the generator we had no power for 5 days, of course it was in the winter, I lost $400 in meats, heated 2 rooms with the 4 burners on the stove, being an ex camper I have camping lanterns for light. I always keep 10 gals of water in the house for "just in case". What I didn't have was no TV, no big deal because I don't watch it anyway, no internet service, that was a BIG deal lol. Every other day I was at the hair salon just to have my hair washed. So I know what it's like to have no power.


In my other life lol, I must have been a Boy Scout because I am always prepared, learned years ago from past experiences :eek:

A big, old-fashioned cheeseburrger with everything, even onions, on it. And fat French Fries! Am soooo hungry & breakfast is a night's sleep away. Woe is me.

Oh, gosh, me neither! I live alone and won't light any candle, even those large scented ones in glass jars, unless I have company. Fear I might fall asleep, the glass break, wax and fire go all over. But I love burning candles - adds so much ambiance and love those very lightly scented.

I like to burn candles especially in the winter time
