I confess I think ALL soldiers who served in Iraq or anywhere for any length of time deserve VA benefits. This crap of you're in the Army Reserve and were only deployed 18 months instead of 24 so you don't get VA benefits really jerks me the wrong way! :mad:

If everyone making the laws had a family member in service....things may be a wee bit different

Amen! I had no idea this was how it worked till someone who needs a Dr couldn't go the other day. They don't get VA benefits because they were deployed 18 instead of 24 mo, they are Army Reserve instead of Regular Army. They returned to late in Jan to sign up for Ins at work, so they are screwed till Jan 2011 when open enrollment comes around again. A whole year of no medical insurance once they return. His back is killing him from what he had to do in Iraq. It's not right!
I didn't know regular Army guys were less bullet proof than the Reservist so they got the VA benefits they all deserve.:mad:

Yep. I don't see 18 months in Iraq as "One Weekend A Month" and they had to do everything the other guys did. But they don't get the same benefits. The Government saving a dime where it can in the wrong places.
