Will be nice for you when the time comes. |
I'm enjoying it now. Do you and hubby enjoy working from home? |
We do indeed. Wish we had done it 20 years earlier than we did. |
Do you have the chance to take many vacations |
We do often. We stop all but the most important accounts during that time. Invariably, we will have at least one call to deal with, but it's a small price to pay to not have to get up and go into work every day and only get paid what some company wishes to pay us. |
Then you have a pretty good job |
Good enough. It gets tiresome at times as we don't get sick leave and such, but we don't have a boss breathing down our necks. When you work for yourself, there aren't any slackers letting you do all the work and them taking the credit. You either succeed or fail on your own merits. I like that much better. |
After 11 months of not working, I don't feel compelled to start another job any time soon |
I don't blame you. I wouldn't either if I had 40 years worth of a pension coming and a 401K with stock prices as they are now. My Dad retired early. Crazy early. Went to work at 17 and put in 30 years for the same company. Then they had him come back and work on call after hours for them to fill orders while he was drawing his retirement. He did this for another 10. He got paid whether they called him in or not and usually went down there twice a week for 30 to 60 minutes at a time depending upon the order. It added another 10 to his pension. I bought him his first computer and he learned to trade stocks on it which he loved doing. He was retired for almost half his life. From watching my Dad and how much he enjoyed his retirement, I am a firm believer in getting out of there when you can. His contemporaries that stayed for years almost all died young. |
Might make a big difference if you enjoyed your work |
I enjoyed mine. Still do. I can't imagine doing something for 30 or 40 years that I did not enjoy. |
More people do that then we probably know |
This is the definition of a paradox. I'm winning but don't feel like a winner. Had oral surgery this morning to remove a cyst that was eating away at my jaw bone. Hurts to eat or talk and I love to do both. :( |
Ouch :( |
I\'m sorry, maxdog. I hope you heal quickly and feel better soon! |
