How to start a dog meet-up group?
 
Has anyone started a dog meet-up group? If so, would you like to share some tips (how you pick where to hold it, etc.)

I'd love to, but it seems like so much pressure! :eek: :) What would be the first step in starting one?

I haven't started a group, but I have arranged meetups.

How so?

How do you pick a location (like between a dog run and just a park where they are on leash)? I know some people are weird about dog parks.

Well I got togethor to see who would come first, then I decided on a park, actually it was one I have never been to. Its really nice. Then the first one we did a GE but it didn't go over that good, some ppl didn't show up. So we had a meetup last saturday and it was just 3 ppl there. but it was still fun. there were 6 yorkies. I would start in your regional section to see who all would come first, then pick a date then a place.

I went to one once and if kinda freaked me out. All the dogs were sooo cute don't get me wrong, but one person kept talking about how sick their dog was with this and that and how it had just gotten over this other thing. And then we came home with fleas!!!!!

No, I haven't.

I'm more just debating. I was thinking about making a group on Meet-up. It worries me though because people are so crazy now-a-days, especially in this city. :p Know what I mean?

Have you contacted Irma? She is the Philly yorkie group organizer, she said she visits YT but I'm not sure how frequently. Maybe you two can work something out? I would love the group to have more active members so the dogs can socialize more.
