I wish I was a hairstylist! I was talking about my funky hair in the chat a few minutes ago.. and was talking about how much I Love my new hairdo and how my hairstylist fixed it.. But I had to wash my hair.. and I tried to fix it how he had styled it.. but I can't!!! Now i look like a retard haha.. boo i wish i was a hairstylist :p |
Im sure that you dont look like a retard. LOL. I know what you mean though about wishing that you could do it like the hairstylist did. I have had my hair done a few times really cool but haven't been able to get it to do the same thing myself. |
i really doo look retarded :( ... my flat iron isn't as good as the one he uses.. so my hair isn't completely flat.. and i think i used too much pomade lol.. i don't want to go out looking like this!! lol.. too bad he's off today.. :p |
The next time you go back to your stylist, ask him to show you how he styled it. Pay close attention and even take notes. Do you remember if he used a lot of product in your hair? Also, if he straightened it by tugging your hair with a brush (this was always a pain for me to do), you can get the same effect by using a straightening iron. It's a lot easier. |

Just a little too much pomade and the whole hairstyle can go to hell. I learned this the hard way. If you would have posted this about a month ago I would have sent you the flat Iron that I had. I had a really really nice one that my friend had won at a hair convention. She is a stylist/cosmotologist (SP). But since i have such short hair and got sick of having all the hair style stuff taking up closet room I got rid of it. |
hairstylist It is never too late...my friend, Pati worked at Safeway for 23 yrs.. one day she quit and enrolled at Graham Webb school..she has worked as a hairdresser for 7 yrs now..loves it. |
yea i put too much.. way too much pomade lol.. i guess it's my fault since i was so excited on getting my haircut that i wasn't really paying attention! i want to get the same flat iron he had.. because the one i have doesn't work so well.. I initially wanted to do make-up.. but i love doing hair as well.. (well starting to love doing hair).. i try to cut my own hair.. and believe me that wasn't fun :D |
I have thought about going to school to do hair. I cut my own sometimes but its easy cause its short. |
2 Attachment(s) this is my when he had styled it.. i LOVED it!.. but now my bangs won't separate like in the picture.. and my hair is kind of fluffy and isn't as flat as i'd like it.. or straight  |
try a little less pomade and then if it doesn't separate try taking the long end of a comb and separating it. Then lightly spray with hairspray. Or you can take the pomade after flat ironing it and use that to assist in separating. Very cute hairstyle though. I love it. :) :) |
thanks! .. i think im going to wash my hair again.. because i put way too much pomade and try again lol.. :) |
A little pomade goes a LONG way!!!! Denya- I am sure you can style it just fine!! We are always sooo critical of ourselves!!!! When you flat iron your bangs- give them a slight bend- then use a tiny amt of pomade to seperate them into the sections you want. Good luck!!!!!!!! |

2 Attachment(s) Girl.. don't be modest! You look hot and I love the new hairdo! Maybe you can order the Chi Hair Straightener. I have choppy hair and what I do is straighten it out and then take a little Paul Mitchell LAB Glue and run it through. That should work. You can do what miezzi said and piece out your bangs. The Paul Mitchell stuff is awesome! You look gorgeous either way |

I disagree-- being a hairstylist is wonderful!!!! And yes people always want what they don't or cant have- but you be honest with them and you do something that is like what they want and do what is best for their hair and face shape!!!! I absolutely love my job. Like I have said before- I don't feel like its work- I get paid to be creative and have fun and talk all day and wear cute clothes all the time!!!! I love my clients!! I feel most of them are friends now and not just clients. I am sooooo lucky!!! And hey- Our shop just got voted- the Best Of The Best award in our area!!!! Yea!!! We have like a ton a salons in our area!!!! Yea!!! |
Thanks Natalie! I'm really wanting to buy a Chi, the one in the picture! but i can't find where to buy it.. :D I do have to agree.. I Love Paul Mitchell products :D |
Try ebay- type in flat irons/chi! I have had many clients buy them there cuz they don't want to spend $130.00 for it. So some have gotten a chi for about 80-90.00 on ebay- brand new and still in the box!!! Well worth the money!!! |
i was hoping i could find it at a store so i could start practicing my flat iron skillz LoL.. :p people have suggested the Chi, Solia and Sedu.. and some jilbaroiehreoarial something lol.. |
Deyna~ I have had curly hair my whole life and am a pro at the flat iron (at least until I gave up b/c it was taking up too much of my life) If you have a good quality flat iron it will last you forever and make all the difference in the world! And if it makes you feel better about your hair not looking right, mine is falling out for no apparent reason ;( So at least you still have hair to flat iron, I am too afraid to touch my hair with anything and am soon going to have to cut it off ;( boo-hoo |

I bought a Maxiglide by Maxius.. and I LOVE IT! It does wonders to my hair. It's very good for frizz also. I heard a lot of people say that the Chi straightner burnt their hair. I dunno though, I've never tried the Chi. Good luck Deyna ;) |
The maxiglide is supposed to be very good too!!! I think its the one on the home shopping network!! But- the Chi if used properly and with the correct products on it before every use-- is woderful!!!! I use it on my hair everyday!!! I too have curly hair-- And my hair is still fairly healthy for all I do to it!! I color it blond and hilite even lighter, this past winter I went red with blond, then went all dark brown!!! So I do a ton of crap tp my hair and still use the flat iron!!! The right products make a huge difference!!!! |
what is a good flat iron or heat protection thingie for our hair? :D |
Matrix Sleek- thermal protective spray Straight, Sexy hair- Smooth and Seal Aquage-Beyond Body Thermal Styler Rusk-Str8 Just to name a few!!! There are soooo many!! Ask your stylist and I bet they have something there for sale to use!!! Or- Do you have a Trade Secret near you!! They have 10-15 lines in their stores- you can try there!!! |
great thanks!! ... i'm going to try to get me a Chi Flat iron.. :D if i'm not lucky with anything now |
i've heard a few good things about Jilbere de Paris Ceramic Flat Irons.. Anyone know much about it? :p |
Just make sure that whatever flatiron you use is ceramic and not just ceramic plated metal... I tried using pomade when I was cutting my hair choppy... But I find that more creamy/less oily products work better... I bought some cheap "got2be" stuff from CVS awhile ago. It smells like icing and works well. You just have to really work it into your hands. You can also try wax instead of pomade. A lot of my friends also say that by pointing their blowdryers straight down on the top of their heads and using downward motions only keep it flatter in general. I can't tell you if it's true. My hair has about 50 layers right now and is always fluttering around! LOL. |
