It was bound to happen and last night it finally did. First, let me say that I have not had to deal with DH's ex in since we were supposed to go to Six Flags with them and I said hell no. So yesterday evening E (DH's best friend who is dating the ex) called me and said they were going to dinner and he would really like it if DH and I joined them. Well, I've had a few weeks to cool off so I said OK. Now first off, she chose the restaraunt. It was a steakhouse. I'm a vegetarian. No big deal at all. I just ordered a salad and a baked sweet potato and it was SO GOOD! It was not a restaraunt I would have chosen, but I didn't complain, I just made the most of it and ended up with a delicious dinner anyway. SHE, on the other hand, proceeded to whine about EVERYTHING! The waiter took to long, the food was too this and not enough of that. She sent her steak back THREE TIMES. Now, I understand sending it back if there is something wrong with it. I've been known to send something back myself. But there is a polite way of doing it. She was just doing it to be a pain in the ass and it was obvious. By this time we've been there about 30 minutes and I've had about 3 drinks. Basically every time she opened her mouth and started irritating me, I would order a drink. :p Finally she whined one time too many about her steak and I opened my mouth. I told her, "Look, will you just shut the f (only I said the word) up? YOU are the one who was talking about how good this place is in the car. YOU are the one who just HAD to come here - knowing that Mike and I don't even eat steak, which I am pretty sure is the only reason you wanted to come here anyway. It was still YOUR choice and all you have done since we got here is bitch and complain about every little thing. It's irritating as piss so just shut up already!" After she picked her jaw up off the floor she popped off some little comment about me just being jealous. So I said, "Of what? You honestly think I am jealous of an alcoholic, immature little girl who is hell bent on making herself and everyone around her as miserable as she possibly can? You know what, if that is the kind of woman Mike wants then he is more than welcome to come right back to you anytime, because he is damn sure with the wrong woman for that!" We paid the bill and left shortly after that. Imagine that - lol I would like to say, in my defense, that even though I told her off, I never once raised my voice. Up until last night I have done everything I could to deal with her, make the most of the fact that her and E are together and she is going to be around. I have tried to handle the whole thing with class and grace - until last night when I just couldn't take it anymore. Even then I tried to just have a couple drinks and get through the meal. I don't think she likes me. I think she really hates me now that both Mike and E defended me last night. Oh well. I was even nice and told her I truly hoped she got the psychiatric help that she so obviously needs. I am not, in any way, proud of my behavior, but she had it coming. She really did. |
You are my hero! I think you did great! I'm not sure I would have used as much class. |
Do you feel better that you got that off of your chest and told her that? If you do, then it was all worth saying! |
I do feel better, I feel a little guilty at the same time though. I don't like hurting someone's feelings, and I'm pretty sure I hurt hers. E said she cried after we dropped them off at his house. Even though I'm sure she could care less about my feelings, I honestly didn't mean to hurt hers or make her cry. I'd just had enough, you know? I mean my god, I can only take so much and she honestly did not say one nice or good thing the whole time we were there. It was just whining and complaining. Its like that is ALL she knows how to do. |
People who do that at restaurants really tick me off. It is so embarrassing |
It embarrasses me too - both her behavior and mine. I don't like to make a scene in a public place. I tried to keep my voice down, but it was still pretty obvious that I wasn't happy and that she was the reason. :( |
Woot! Woot! you go girlfriend! If it didn't happen now, it would of happened eventually down the road. Who cares?! she is the b**** with the problem not you. |
Way to go!!! I knew that time was coming soon. She deserved to hear every word that you said!!!!!! Hopfeully now she won't come around and you won't have to deal with her. |
I really didn't mean to make her cry. That makes me feel really bad. I just don't understand someone being that miserable ALL THE TIME. Every single time I have been around her she has been complaining and whining about something. I couldn't take it anymore. It isn't just that either. She is just very immature and rude. She has no manners or class. Plus, she is just jerking E around so that makes me mad too even though he is just as much to blame because he's letting her do it. |
I think you handled her beautifully, and it's about time someone did, from the sounds of her:rolleyes: You GO girl!   |
I just want to say that Im glad you stood for what you believed in about her, but don't take on E's issues with her. Its up to E to figure that out. Im assuming he is a full grown man and he'll figure out that she is using him in the end. Taking on another persons 'problems or pain' does you no good. Its ok to sympathize, but don't dislike someone bc you think they are doing something to someone else (esp when there is no proof of that yet). Its just not worth your mind time. :) One thing is clear, you do not need her negativity clouding your life and mind. Your speech to her will definately keep her away from you! And that is great! Your life does not need her in it. E & Mike can have their friendship that does not need to include you & her! Soooo good for you for taking yourself out of a dreadful future situation now... its not worth your time and energy to worry about 'the next time' ... :) |
Oh he is definitely on his own when it comes to dealing with her. Their relationship is fizzling out anyway. I don't like to see someone I care about being hurt, but he IS a grown up and can deal with it. My mom thinks her crying to E was fake and it probably was so I don't feel AS BAD. I did tell E if I truly hurt her feelings I was sorry and he could tell her that if he wanted. He could even blame it on the drinks if he wanted. I just keep thinking if E cares that much about her, and if DH cared for her at one point, surely she has to have a good quality somewhere. I just can't find it. |
Congrats! I'm proud of you, she totally had it coming! Don't feel bad about it either. If she does things to piss you off on purpose (like going to a steakhouse) then you had every right to do that to her! I'm amazed at how long you kept it in though, I give you credit! |
:D You go girl!!!!! |
good job  i would have done the same thing. you go girl!!!!!!:p |
