What do i do? I go this email, it says from paypal. Dear sarah, This is to confirm that you have paid deal_source (deal_source@aol.com) $149.95 USD using PayPal. Item Purchased: NEC MobilePro 900c Handheld PC PDA Laptop WIFI, Manual. If you did not purchase this item, follow instructions below. Click here to cancel the payment and get a full refund. Thank you I did not make any purchase and i didn't even have that much in my account. I haven't clicked the link yet, do i? i never got this before |
Sarah, Forward it to spoof@paypal.com and tell them you did not make any such purchase ... also check your paypal account, chances are it is not really there ... whatever you do, do NOT click on any links that may be there ... write directly to spoof@paypal.com I had my eBay account compromised and eBay changed my password b/c someone hacked in and used my name saying I was selling Hannah Montana tickets .... eBay caught it and wrote to me .... GOOD LUCK!!! Debbie Quote:

This happened to me too sara and it was not registered in my actual paypal account, scammers are trying to get your ebay or paypal login & password info. Do not use any link in the email. |

Thank you! I am going to send it to them. I didn't click the link cause i was scared they can get info from me like that or something and i just checked my paypal account and the money i had there is still there. Good thing ebay caught on to that on your account! |
I got a weird paypal email once and I did click on the link but luckily I looked at the "http://" address that popped up on the new screen and it was a bunch of mumbo jumbo. It wasn't paypal it was a scam. It asked for all of my info, password, bank info, etc. I reported it to paypal and they immediately emailed me back and said they would look into it. Make sure you don't give them any info. I would forward the email to paypal (don't reply to the most likely fake email you got) and ask them to check into it. Good luck and congrats on being cautious instead of just believing the email. They are expecting people to just trust that it's actually from paypal and to want to clear up their account. |

Definetly send it to spoofmail at PayPal. |
And the scammers know there are dishonest people out there also who think, hmm, I didn't order this but if they're going to refund $ that I never even paid I'll do it. Woo hoo, free money...uh oh...my bank account is now drained! Bummer! |

forwarding it to that spoof email address is the best way to go ... they are only looking for your info and they cannot get it if you do not give it ... same if you get strange mail from ebay ... send it on to spoof@ebay.com ... they have people there checking this stuff out ... and they will respond and tell you that this was NOT sent by paypal or ebay... whichever the case may be ... good advice from Monday and Yorkiekids |
K i just forwarded it. I guess i'll just wait to see what they write back. Thanks guys!! I knew to come here to ask about it cause i remember a while back there was a thread about paypal and scammers. |
For safe measure, you should also change your password every now and then. |
I have gotton one of those b4 they are scam and they just want your account info. If you want you can call paypal to verify that it didn't go through. |
Yep, that is most DEFINITELY a fake! I've received those before and ALWAYS forward them to spoof@paypal.com (which I know you have already been told) lol :p |
Also keep an eye out for fake eBay ones too. |
Have you got any email back? |
PayPal or eBay usually just send you an email saying they recieved your report, and will investigate. Other than that I have never recieved anything else. |
yea it seems like i got an automatic email, i guess they sent to everyone |
