Need YT Prayers...I Am Losing My Grandmother I have lost both of my grandfathers and have even lost a baby of my own (May 2002), but it doesn't make losing my grandma any easier. She has fought some HUGE battles in her life....heart surgery when I was younger, 2 brain surgeries (one when she was 81 and the next one was only a year later.). She also lost her second born daughter when my aunt was only 45 (due to Ovarian Cancer). My grandma Jo was a school teacher for over 30 years before retiring and enjoying living on their farm with her childhood sweetheart. Yes, her and my grandpa had loved each other since they were 10 years old. I also saw her go through losing him when he was 72....and all that they battled together with his Cancer. The only time that I saw her appear weak was when he passed away...she collasped into our arms but quickly regained her strength because she knew that is what he would want for her. I now know that I have to somehow grab hold of that same strength as I say goodbye to my precious grandma. OH HOW I HATE THIS!!! My husband and I are taking our 2 children to the nursing home to see her tonight and I am afraid to leave her....knowing that this may be the last time. Hospice is now with her and I hope that brings some comfort to her. She no longer really responds to anyone and she does not eat. The nursing home has said that they will no longer provide her with food (only liquids) because of the choaking hazzards involved...since she does not know how to swallow anymore. I hope that it is alright that I shared this with you....my family could use some prayers to get through this. She will be leaving behind so many that love her! There are 3 daughters (including my aunt that passed away), 8 granchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and friends. Tammy |
I am sorry for what you are going through. It is so hard to lose loved ones. I will send a prayer for all of you. I know it is comforting to her to know how much you care. (hug) |
Prayers are on your way . |
Tammy, your grandmother sounds like a wonderful strong lady. I am sure she is just plain tired out and wants to join your grandfather now. You know she will be so happy to see him again. Keep that in mind and I know it will make it easier for you. They had what many only dream about. Love that last's. I hope she goes peacefully. You must be left with many wonderful memories. Grandmother's are very special people. Both of mine passed at 91. I try very hard to make memories for my grandchildren so they will always remember me with laughter and love. You were blessed to have both of them in your life. Hugs, |
Prayers are coming your way Tammy What a wonderful blessing you have been for your grandmother to have loved her so very much. |
im so sorry, im crying right now,,i lost my grandma, she was my best friend in the whole world.. god bless you and your family.. prayers coming over to you right now... |
I am so very sorry. I know exactly how you feel. I just lost my grandma to Breast Cancer in March. I was with her in the morning having breakfast at the nursing home, to find out that was the last time I would have a conversation with her. In the matter of a few hours she went from great to passing. I miss her everyday. We didnt get a chance to get Hospice, it happened so fast. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.   PM me if you wanna talk |
I'm very sorry you're going through all this, and am sending prayers your way. |
I am so sorry about your Grandma. I feel so bad for you and your family and also your dear Grandma. It is so hard to lose someone you love. I lost my Mom in February and it still hurts as bad today. I will be thinking of you and say a prayer for all of you. Sending hugs! |
Tammy, I am so sorry to hear this :( I really know how hard it is to lose family members. While most people my age (21) haven't had much loss in their life, I have (mostly from cancer), and it is so difficult. I lost my grandma at the age of 94 last February, and even though I know she lived a great life with 12 children, 36 grandchildren, and 70+ great-grandchildren, it was so hard saying good-bye to her. Your post really touched me, and I very rarely cry at posts on YT, but the tears are rolling now. I am so sorry you all are going through this, and I will be praying for you and your family to have strength through these times. |
I am very sorry for what you are going thru. I will remember you in my prayers. |
Tammy, I am so very sorry for this sad sad time in your life. Sending hugs and prayers. |

Prayers to you and your family... sending strength to you during this hard time. d |
My heart goes out to you. Your Grandmother sounds like a wonderful person. I lost my Mom in March. We had only put her in Hospice 2 hours when she passed peacefully. Hospice is so helpful. |
Tammy, You and I are both going through the exact thing right now!!! My Grandmother is 86 and she was flown to Duke Medical in Raleigh, NC from Asheville, NC this week. (A five hour drive away from all the people who love her. Lots of my family drove the 5 hours to be with her and are staying in a hotel) Your Grandmother sounds so much like my Grandmother!!! Sounds like your Grandmother is very LOVED!!! I will be praying for you, your Grandmother and your family!!! Hospice is wonderful...I am glad they are there for your Grandmother!!!! Keep us posted!!! |
Tammy and Rhonda. My prayers go out to both of your and your familes. {{{{HUGS}}}} |

God Bless :hands: :hands |
Thank you! I truly appreciate your prayers and your kind words. We spent time at the nursing home all weekend...only came home to sleep. My grandma had her eyes open a lot on Friday, even held my hand (SUPER) tight! :) I would go to change hands and she wouldn't let go and she would just look up at me and stare straight into my eyes. I knew that was her way of telling me that she wasn't ready to let me go. She did the same thing with my cousins that day. Then, on Saturday, she was nonresponsive....didn't open her eyes but maybe a couple of times. My aunt and my mom are still offering her things to drink. She will occasionally take some water, ice cream and an Ensure. Hospice said that with the way that she is not eating, she is expected to live a day to 2 weeks. It's so hard to say goodbye to her,but I know that she is tired and has fought many battles in her 86 years. My mom spent the night with her and she said that my grandma was awake a lot of the night....she lays there staring at the ceiling. Since she is no longer able to really speak,my mom said that she did all of the talking for both of them. :) My mom said, "Mommy (yes she still calls her this)...."Mommy, I would like for you to say hello to everyone for me....how lucky that you will get to see their faces once again." My grandma then stopped staring at the ceiling and looked right into my mom's eyes. My mom said that she knew that was her way of telling her that she would. When my mom told me this,I started to cry but then quickly realized what a blessing that she will get to see all of our loved ones that have passed. She seems to be ready,it's those of us that are left behind that have to mourn. I would like to ask you all to still pray that her passing is painless and that my family will heal quickly.... Thanks again~ Tammy |
I am so sorry you are going through this difficult time. You grandmother sounds like a really special lady. I am sending prayers for your grandmother and all your family. God Bless. |
