Attn: Sewing people... Does anyone here know how to use the serger to make a rolled hem? I recently bought a rolled hem foot for my sewing machine, and it is a joke!! I can't use it. It seems like it is more trouble to use it, since apparently, you have to fold and press that tiny little hem before feeding it into the rolled hem foot. (Ask me if I feel like folding and pressing that tiny hem on a curved bottom skirt? LOL). I understand this is something that can be done with a serger, by tinkering with the tensions of the loopers. Does anyone know how to do this? I have a (Husqvarna) Huskylock 4 thread, and I may even have a special foot for it...If that is what that one is with the needle prong-y thing on it LOL. Thanks! |
wish I could help you out there Misty but I don't know how to use that one either . . . :p |
Thanks! I've had this machine for over 13 years...you'd think I'd know how to use this feature by now! LOL Anyone? :) |
I don't know either, but I wantedt to thank you for reminding me that I need to go dig out my serger which is in a box in the garage SOMEWHERE....I've never used it; it was my grandma's and when we moved, I threw a huge box of spools of thread away b/c I didn't want to drag it from place to place....now I regret that stupid move......I want to learn how to use it now:( . But I suppose the first step is to unearth it! |
My serger has a special foot for rolled hems. Just start it folded & it does the rest------No ironing the whole thing! I've enjoyed making napkins & table runners with it. There should be specific instructions in the book that came with the machine. |
I think it's suppose to do it automatically without you having to iron and fold it, but I don't know how it works. |

Good luck, girl What type of surger do you have? I have an 8 thread Evolve' that I bought about 7 years ago. What was I thinking -- 8 spools of thread?????? It does a rolled hem, but I haven't ever done more with the machine than finish seams...... |

Come on...8?! LOL :D You'd be out $40 on the thread cones just to start sewing!!! LOL What were you thinking indeed!! :D :p I have a Husqvarna Husky Lock, 4 thread with differential feed. I'm sure if I go to the dealer I bought it from they'd teach me, as I have lifetime lessons with it, but that would require driving up there! LOL. |
