((aurgh)) I am soo UPSET w/ my sewing machine!! I bought a Singer sewing machine last year....I can't sew and I am not crafty at all, but it was needed when I had to mend some clothing, etc. ((I got tired of bugging my grandmother every time I needed a simple stitch - ha))....anyway, it has never worked right......I have done everything it has said to do.....aurgh!!! I am just beyond PO'ed at it right now. The problem is that the thread always gets bunched up and it locks the needle so you can't sew....you have to pull it out and there is a big bunch of thread on the back of the material. The book said to keep the threads straight back behind the machine/needle - do that every time...nothing. It always said to make sure you have the same thread in the bobbin and in the needle.....do that every time....nothing. I am sooo close to calling the company to complain. What else can I do???? I called my grandmother and she said to re-adjust the (whatever, I went blank) -- oh, maybe tension....done that several times and nothing...... I thought Singers were good brands....or is it just me?? Should I get another machine??? |
you may need to check the tension on the bobbin and the top thread just to make sure it's not too loose or too tight on either one. \ i'm no expert at all, but i had to do that with my new machine. the bobbin was too tight and i had all sorts of problems until i fixed that. now it works great. |
Thanks for the info....the machine isn't really new....I bought it new last year and have used it several times......does the tension have to be re-adjusted a lot on machines??? I will try that again.....well, right now, I am mad at it (ha,ha), so I thought I would relieve my sewing machine frustrations by messing around on YT! I will check it in a little while....or have my husband look at it when he gets home........that man can do anything!!!! |
MIne does that occasionally and usually it's because the bottom bobbin isn't threaded correctly. For my singer, it has a little 'hole' where the thread is supposed to pass thru before it is pulled up to the needle if that makes sense. If it doesn't pass this area, it causes the tension not to be right and bunches/gets caught like yours. |
Definitely something either with the tension adjustment or threading of the machine. My bobbin casing has a tiny screw in it that requires adjustment every now and then along with the main tension of the machine. |
It's either the tension or the threading of the machine, and or the bobbin. |
