I'm buying a new Router Which is better? NetGear or Linksys??? Thank you!!!! I'm looking for the fastest and the farthest distance. |
We have linksys. And I am going to tell you we get knocked off and I have to call Linksys about 3 times a year. Other than that it works great. |
Oh really! I have Belkin right now, just bought it and it works hit and miss. Like last night I had to connect and disconnect tons of times, unhook and hook back up and then finally just used the desktop. Then later the router was working for the laptop  it keeps doing that. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't and its driving me nuts! |
Thats how this does, and it may just be ours, but about 3 times a year I have to call them. Its frustrating having your internet off. I am on the wireless router right now, so is my desktop. But my moms desktop is on the router. |
I have linksys and I love it. My sister is a computer geek and told me that linksys is the best @ the moment. That said, every now and then I get kicked off. I unplug the linksys for a little while and when I plug it back in it comes right up. |
We use Linksys both at the office and at home. Both are good setups, but Netgear is less prevalent in the market. Linksys stuff is good, but their customer service is quite lacking. When it comes to connectivity, it will just depend on where your router is in relation to where you are using your computer. Most routers will work fine in a single story home and decent in a two story home depending on square footage. If you do have issues with your wireless distance, you can just add on an extender which will increase the router's range. Another smart idea is to make sure you encrypt the router once you set it up. This will limit anyone who tries to use your connection for free. |
