Having my 5th surgical procedure in 3 months on Monday  I am sooooo not ready for this. This time it is to get my gall bladder out (do to the life-threatening pancreatitis I had after my reconstructive surgery to my knee), but I dread another IV. I had my first IV of my life in June and now have had too many to count.....I DREAD them. They can't find or hit my veins easily:(. Tiah and her pups go back to my Mother-in-law who is kind enough to take care of them again for a few days (she had them for an entire month while I was in the nursing home and hospital). Actually, they were born at her house and she had my other 3 Yorkies also. So, if you remember, please pray that it will be uneventful with as little pain as possible. I just went through the withdrawals of being on Morphine for 35 days, ms contin, and extra strength vicodin all at the same time. |
You sure have had a rough time of it these past 3 months Julz. I am sorry you once again are facing surgery. It is my understanding this type of surgery has come along way and healing takes less than 1/2 the time it use to. However, surgery is surgery and I wish you good luck and a speedy recovery. |
Wow...you've really been through the ringer! Wishing you all the best and praying for as little pain as possible for you. Also a speedy recovery so you can get back to your babies quickly. |
You've sure been through a lot. Hopefully this is the end. Prayers coming your way. |
Gosh,I was hoping things would be calming down for you on the medical side. Good luck, maybe this will be the end to it,eh? |
Oh, you poor thing:( Prayers coming out from Utah for a smooth surgery and speedy recovery! |
Sending my thoughts and prayers! I had my gallbladder out seven years ago, on a Friday and was back to work on Tuesday. The worse part was my bellybutton where they cut in at the top of it. In pain ranking of my hospital visits: lung surgery - hysterectomy - child birth - gallbladder - broken bones. |
Ohhhh you poor thing!! I am sooo sorry you have been going through so much! You will be in our thoughts and prayers! :justahug: |
Thank you everyone. I truly hope this is the last of it for a long time to come. I don't want to get into competition with Tiramisu:eek: . You just never know what a person has been through. I had THE most painful, horrible summer, and yet...somehow...I can tell my story with a chuckle now. |
Man... you poor girl! I feel soooo bad!!! I hope this all blows over and 2008 is a year of total joy for you!! You DESERVE it!!! :) |
aah you poor thing ! Prayers coming your way for a speedy recovery ! |
Thank you! If there is any good news in it, I lost 20 pounds after my last surgical procedure (ERCP) on August 21st:rolleyes: . You are supposed to get your gag reflex back between 1/2 - 1 hour....4 hours is the longest they ever saw it go.....HOWEVER, nothing is simple with me and I have to go ALL THE WAY....mine didn't come back until SEPTEMBER 28th!!!! |
Praying this is it for a LONG time!!! Keeping you in my prayers. |
Oh Julie, good luck and I will be thinking of you. Patty |
Oh poor you. I hate surgery, so I'll be hoping that this will be your last. Thinking of you. |
you poor thing! That's a lot to deal with. I had my gall bladder out several years ago. Due to complications, I was not able to have it done laproscaply (sp?) like they usually do nowadays. I was back to work in two weeks - not that I recommend that (what was wrong with me??!!) Anyways, hopefully yours will be simple and as easy as possible with a quick recovery. As far as your IV's go. My veins are sometimes difficult too. Have you tried drinking a lot? I was told that when you're dehydrated it makes it harder to find your veins and when you have surgery, you can't drink usually after midnight so I make sure I drink a lot of water just before bed and it's been worked for me. Maybe you could try that? Good Luck! ;) Theresa |
I am very happy right now....the Dr.'s office just called me and informed me that it is a DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT and not sugery on Monday!! I have believed it was surgery (as did my family) since I was in the hospital in August. Surgery will get SCHEDULED Monday. I felt like a happy goofball having to call my family and tell them. Thanks for the well-wishes, prayers and shared stories. I'll post when my ACTUAL surgery is:rolleyes: . |
Julz, I'm glad your surgery is not today. I'll be praying everything goes much better this time. You sure have had a rough summer!! All started with jumping on a trampoline, right??? Stay strong! Lori |
Best Wishes to you Julz! I had my gall bladder out in May and it was a pretty simple procedure. The day of was the worst where the dis comfort was concerned and each day I felt a little better. I wasn't down too long at all so I hope this will be not only your last surgery for a while but also the simpliest where recovery is concerned. |

I'm glad to hear yours went so well. Do you feel completely back to normal now? I hear that it really can be a pretty easy procedure.....but my body is sooooo oppositional. Strong pain meds don't affect me most of the time, and a simple medication they gave me for upset stomach made me higher than a kite and have hallucinations! OMG, it went on for HOURS!!! They had to take me off of morphine for 24 hours due to it and said NONE of them had ever seen such a reaction from it...I had slurred speach, couldn't walk, and saw the pictures and outlets just dripping down the wall. I also talked A LOT to people that weren't really there...though I saw them plain as day. LOL. I just have to laugh about it:rolleyes: . I now go in on the 23rd for the surgery. I do hope mine goes as well as yours:) |
