Christening/Baptism Gowns Does anyone know of good websites that I can look at to find a christening/baptism gown. My neice Brookelyn Michelle is getting baptized in November and since I can't be her Godmother (because I haven't converted to Catholicism yet) my sister is allowing me to pick out her christening gown. Please let me know if you have any suggestions...I already checked out Saks, Nordstroms, Ralph Lauren, Target (couldn't find any there)...she doesn't want to spend a whole lot but we still want to find something nice and cute. Thanks in advance, |
Have you tried Burlington Coat Factory, Wal-Mart & Macy's yet? Ebay might even have something. My cousin is having someone take her wedding dress and turning it into a gown for her daughter to wear. I am a christian sponsor for her since I am not catholic so I can not legally be called her godmother but I still get to participate in the ceremony and everything. I am actually thinking of converting though but it is a big decision. |
Really, I might have to ask my sister about that...because they won't let me participate in the ceremony at this catholic church because I am not Catholic, although I plan to convert. I've been raised going to various different churches and never really decided on one, and my boyfriend (who I plan to marry one day) is also Catholic and I know that it is a big deal to his family to raise the grandkids catholic, since they were all raised that religion and have all attended private catholic schools. (that's the same way it happened with my sister too) So I think it's important for me to know the ins and outs of a religion that I will one day be raising my children. Thanks I haven't checked those places out yet. |

Are there any baby clothing stores by you? |
We have like Carter's, Gymboree and Janie and Jack, I haven't actually gone to any of the stores yet I just have been looking online to get an idea of what was out there. I think I'm going to go and check out like Macy's and those places this weekend. Just bored at work and wanted to see what was out there. |
I am also a Christian sponsor "Nanny/Godmother" and was not confirmed intothe church.... you can still be her "Nanny", just not technically a "Godmother"..... I have my wedding dress, saving it to make christening gowns for the grandchildren I hope to have.... Good Luck! You may also try Dillards or Macy's... they often have christening gowns.... d d |

http://www3.jcpenney.com/jcp/SearchD...mResetCat=true 9 years ago I bought one from JC Penney for my grandchild and my daughter used it for all 3 kiddies. Also bought a white blanket to go with it. |
My Mother in Law made the christening outfit for my boy's. I had my dress from my christening but my husband said it was too girly! It was made with white velour and white silk. Check out this site, www.a special day.com they have real nice dresses and they are not to expensive. Another site is christeningbabygown.com, they have a few that are a lot of money but some are less. Also our church said that as long as one God Parent was catholic then it was fine. Child #1 had a both Godparents catholic, child #2 1 catholic one baptist godparent, #3 both were catholic, and #4 one catholic one was baptist. All are on the baptismal certificate as God Father/God Mother title. You might want to have your sister see if that is true at her church. It night just be different rules for different diocese that the church follows. |
1 Attachment(s) Check out this website. I copied the pic below from a site in the UK http://www.christeningessentials.com/ |
