Our Street is Doomed I am beginning to think my entire street is just bad luck. It started when the people across the street parked their car on some dry leaves one night (this was wintertime) and we woke up to the brightest bedroom - their car was on fire. It just melted to the street. Next, less than a year ago we awoke to the bright bedroom again - three houses on fire - one of which burned to the ground and the other two badly burned. One is still not finished being repaired. Half way through the house repair of that house, it was set on fire again. Then, of course, there was the matter of our neighbor being shot and killed in Iraq two weeks ago. This morning I was lyng in bed - it was very early and Kalina just woke me up to take her out. I hear a sound CRASH, CRASH. Run to the window. My next door neighbor had gone into her house to get her lunch for work (her car was supposedly in park but running) and the car just took off on its own, crossed the street, drove between two parked cars and made a complete turn, facing the opposite direction. How odd is that? I wonder what'll happen next? Hopefully nothing! |
Oh my! I hope that's the end of the bad things. That sure is freaky. |
That is too creepy! |
How strange!!! You definitely have had some weird things going on! You seem to be handling it great, though! :) (I'd probably be up all night worrying about the next incident!) ;) |
I grew up on a street (and have returned to it temporarily) which I thought was doomed, too! There were about 6 house fires (5 deliberate,) 1 amusement park carousel fire and a murder in one year. Nothing's happened since. 'twas very odd. Sometimes bad luck just strikes all in the once place, so it seems! Hopefully that'll be the end of your street. |
That's insane! i'd probably be constantly paranoid if I lived there! |
I'd be sleeping with one eye open if I were you. |
Are you sure your street wasn't built on a sacred burial ground? |
WOW! What interesting neighborhoods. I hope that the next interesting thing is something much more mild and of the good variety. The most interesting things that have happened our street were: 1) waking up to find a strange horse looking in my front windows 2) the pig that ran across our back yard 3) many years ago having my young children capture a peacock that was "just passing through" |
I forgot to mention something (how I could forget I don't know, maybe I'm in denial)...I found a dead man. Well he was alive when I found him, but died shortly thereafter. It's a very long story, but it's really interesting. I think he must have been murdered. And he lived 5 houses away from me. |
Yikes! Time to move,maybe? Quote:

She was behind the fence and through a brick near it to scare it and it charged at her.. she was no very happy Many deer have run through here.. once some old guy tried chasing it.. I'm not sure why.. My neighbor and her friend got tipsy one night and drove her firends car on top of the train tracks.. it was like 11 PM and the train came and they booked it because the car wouldnt come off the tracks.. they never got caught though.. It was also the 70s Just this past year a guy got hit my the train.. Some kids put a picnic table in the middle of the street Same kids repeatedly pulled the fire alarm at the school at 2 AM My neighbor flipped some guys car upside down.. and all of other things to this neighbor but there was years and years of something going on about something the guy did to my neighbor. My moms best friends brother was hit by a car too. I think thats about it.. theres probably more. |
