I saw this movie when it first came out.
What an eye opener! If you have teens, know teens,
or in my case at the time worked with teens.
It's a must see.

I took my daughter to see it when it came to the theaters. I agree, it is a must see for any parent/grandparent or anyone having anything to do with teenage children!!!

I've seen Thirteen, and it's crazy. :eek: Good movie, though! I'm a teacher, and some parents have no clue what their kids do behind their backs. Even the "good" ones. It's an eye opener!

Oh yes, anyone who has anything to do with teens, and these days it's everyone;) Has to see it! Most people know I adopted 3 out of my 5 children.
My 3 were in Foster Care, I wish I could say they were OK, but I can't.
I wish I could save some more, who knows what the years will bring,

And there you have it!
I worked with children for 14 years. I had no idea what kids would/could do.
I had all 5 of my kids watch it with me. I wanted them to see how crazy the world could be. I Thank God for my children each and everyday. They are safe, and always will be, but they need to know whats out there, and how to steer clear. Our oldest daughter gave me the warmest hug after seeing this movie, and thanked me for saving her. (I cried all night that night)

Did you know a teen wrote the movie?
I saw her on Oprah, I must say she's a strong teen.:thumbup:

I saw the previews for it, but it seemed kind of extreme! I can't imagine that many thirteen year olds act like that...

Not really, it's a must see. I feel really strongly about this, (and that's rare)
But I have worked with MANY children, and have 5 of my own. Even if I didn't,
these days, I would want to see it. Add to that, it was written by a teen.
And as I have told all my friends, it's a must see.:)

I teach middle school (and high school) and young teens smoke pot, cut, have intercourse, and other "sex." Unfortunately it's not uncommon. :(

Holy moly!! I don't remember things like that happening at all... That's so sad :( I'm watching this movie, and I can't believe what I am seeing. Maybe I lived a sheltered life as a kid, but geez...I just can't believe this.

I knew then I had to see it. I even went to a town I NEVER would have went to, just to see it. (they didn't show it that long here, but they should have)

It's a film I think all parents/ family members/teachers should see. But I also feel it's a film teens should see with their parents, so they can have a chance to talk about it after they see it.

I'm lucky because with our children we have an open door to talk about anything, day or night, they know we are here. I have learned some kids aren't lucky, but I wish they all were.:2hearts2:

Funny you should say that! I was a VERY sheltered child. Both my parents were Police Officer's. I was kept away from everything, but their are many kids who aren't. Sad, but true, and being written by a teen, says a lot these days.

I didn't realize this was written by a teen. I've heard of this movie, but never really looked into it or watched it, but I'm watching it now.

Believe it or not, it's probably more common in the areas where you'd least expect it. :(

I Tivo'd and just watched this last week. It's still on my mind! I have 13 and 11 year old girls and the stuff that they showed going on with all of those kids just really doesn't go on in our small town. Oh, I'm sure there ARE a few like that around here but I think my daughters would be appalled to see this. I plan on letting them see it too..... I just wanted to watch it by myself first. I didn't know about the teen that wrote it and that she was on Oprah.
