I have a Router question.... My wireless laptop is working great with the router, although now my desktop won't connect to the internet????? I have the router connected thru my desktop, but I can't go online with it now unless I un hook the router and hook my internet back up thru the computer. Can anyone help? |
Girl, did you get my PM? Oh gosh, maybe I didn't even send you one...maybe I only THOUGHT I did. Crap. lol. Anyway, just let me know exactly what all is going on and I will ask my hubby. You KNOW he will be happy to help ;) He is outside putting up a new fence at the moment - but when he's done and comes back inside I can ask him for you :p |
Thanks!!!!! I have it hooked up exactly the way the instructions say, only I can only be on my laptop. The desktop isn't connecting thru the router to the internet, so if I'm on my laptop, the desktop worn't connect to the internet. Its all hooked up the way its suposed to be. I've done it several times. |

I hope that helps. |
We had such a problem with that a few weeks ago after having cable company out twice and dell, thye said the IP address on the wireless was changed somehow and wasn't reading from our router. Have no idea what that means though. Also check to see it is reading your wireless network |
Who is your router through? We have wireless also, and we have linksys and I would call theem. I have called many of times and they are hard to understand but such great help!!!! They will have you reset the router and tell you to go through a few steps. |

Patrick says this is just a W.A.G. since he can't see your setup ... do you have an ethernet cable hooked from your desktop computer to your router? If so, you should be able to get online with your desktop and online wireless with your laptop. I hope I "relayed" that properly and that you get your glitch fixed. Good luck! ;) |
I have Satellite internet and I have that hooked into the router, which is then hooked up to the computer. I don't know what a ethernet cabel is???? Quote:

Does your desktop computer also have "wireless" capability? |

Husband says 1. Turn everything off. After one minute turn on the modem if you have one. 2. Then turn on the router the main computer is plugged into. 3. Wait half a minute and then turn on the computer, leave the laptop off for now. Let the main computer bootup, it should find it's own settings and configure by itself. 4. Once you can open internet browser and get to a site, then turn on the laptop and let it do its configure and settings. Now both should work. This process may have to be redone in this sequence anytime the power goes out, even for a second or two. 5. If this doesn't work, call the router company. |

Sorry, we couldn't be of more help. It's kinda difficult without being there ... up for company?!? ;) Sounds like Sondra2004 has dealt with something like this already. We have satellite but have Qwest internet. Good luck!! :) |
