Anybody with curley hair or hair dresser's, I have a question
 
I am learning as I go with Maya's hair. Like I didn't know you couldn't brush curly hair like I do mine....lol I wish I would have taken a picture of that, but I was freaking out it would never go back right.
Anyway, I was *thinking* about straighting her hair for a photo shoot, but I am so scared it will damage it. Will doing once ( having it done in a salon ) damage it in any way? If so, I would rather just leave it curley and play with different hats and stuff.

Chemically straightening your hair does damage it but I think the real question is what does she want to do. I would not put her through it unless it was something she wanted. I think her hair looks great curly! Why cover it with hats. I have always wanted curls.

Nooo I was talking about a straightning iron just for a photo shoot. I was going to play with differnt hats and outfits. I want her hair to look like it does now after the pictures. I was just thinking something different, but I do not want to mess it up in any way. I have never used a flat ironed b/c my hair is too straight. Sorry,I wasen't clear.

If you can find a hair dresser that know's how to cut curly hair it can be very beautiful. I personal think straightening it with a straightening iron for one day won't do too much damage, but I would ask a stylist to be sure. I would not chemically straighten it.

Oh I see now. Sorry, I thought you meant taking her to the salon to get it straightened with chemicals. I'm not sure about having it done the other way but I wouldn't think it would damage it too much especially not just the one time. I know there are a lot of different ways to do it. You might just need to see what works best for her.

I definetly wouldn't chemically straighten it, but I don't think using a straightening iron would hurt it, because a lot of people on here do.
