Why can kids be so mean....
 
Tonight hubby, my mom, my son, and I went out to eat at a restaurant downtown. We live in a small town so all the stuff is right along the main road where the restaurant is. We were walking out and getting ready to put my son (who is 8 months old) in his car seat when a truck of 3 teenage boys drove by and squirted us, including my son, with big squirt guns. I usually don't like to argue or start trouble but if you mess with my kids you might as well forget about it. So I yelled for hubby to hurry and we all got in and I drove. I knew where they were going cause its the only place kids hang out, sure enough they did go there. I waited and called the cops. They caught me on a bad night. I was furious. I wouldn't of thought a thing if they just squirted us adults but when they did it to my son. I've about had it with the kids in this town! There isn't anything for them to do. :( It's sad when they got to pick on an 8 month old to get a good laugh and have some fun.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I shudder when I think those kids are our future adults.......

Yes it's really sad. When the officer told them didn't you see she had a baby with her and they just laughed. I'm only 20 so it wasn't that long ago I was running around like that but I never got in trouble. I've really seen a big change in the teenagers in our town.

Well, I'm a "little" older than you ;) but I remember also. BUT I have a 21 year old and an 18 year old. They're great kids and would be absolutely angry at your story. Like you, they don't understand some pockets of today's youth either. Luckily, there are more great kids like you and my kids than those you ran into. :thumbup:

I'm so glad to hear that. They need to come here and teach the kids here a good lesson on how a responsible mature young adult is suppose to act. :)

I hope you don't think those three constitute all young people. :) I, at only 21, think it's horrible that someone would be ignorant to do something like that.

Tilly's Mom, hope the incident didn't ruin your incident to badly. I'm glad you called the police . Maybe they will THINK next time.

No, no, no.... My next post said that I am thankful that the good ones (you guys along with my own kids) outnumber the ones that she ran into!! They are definitely the minority of our young people!! :o

Yeah I've calmed down a lot. Like I said if I didn't have the baby I wouldn't of thought anything. Sad to think if they did it to a baby they could of done it to an older person. I would feel terrible if one would of fallen. Yeah, not all young adults are immature, just seems the ones around here are. :( Everyone always complains with them getting into so much trouble, but there is nothing for them to do. If you have a bunch of bored 16 yr olds running around what do you think is going to happen? Trouble. I can't wait till hubby graduates and we can move. :)

Thats just pathetic!! For teenagers to get a kick out of squirting a 8 month old is plain sad.... i dont blame you for getting angry, and going after them!

I know what you mean. I use to live in a small town, and there was nothing for us to do, except get in trouble!

I'm sorry this happened to you. Kids get in trouble around here too, and it's not that small of a town. There's just nothing for them to do, so they get into trouble.

All the cop did was take their squirt guns. That's about all he could do none of us got hurt. It was just sad that they did that. :( Something seriously needs to be done in this town, the adults just sit and whine. Like with the skaters. If you give them a place to skate then they will. All we have is a bowling alley, which is hogged up by old men and good luck getting a lane that isn\'t reserved by a league, or you can wait and go to the movies, in a run down theatre, Saturday or Sunday. Last time we went to the movies kids just threw popcorn the whole time and argued with friends on their cell phones. I\'d write a letter in our paper but it would do no good.

Thats horrble.. When I was in eigth grade two years ago I was at the movie theatre which is also a strip mall and some teenage boys yelled some VERY VERY inappropiate things at us. I was offened because it wasnt just degrading to the girls there but to all girls.
