kidney stones...eek i have a kidney stone for the first time ever. the dr gave me pain killers and antibiotics. i feel awful. does anyone know of a natural way to help pass these? thanks. |
I just had one last month. All I know is that the Dr said to drink LOTS of water. Good luck! |
What kind of stone is this?? Make sure and drink lots of water... |
I had a few last month and they were small but they put me on antibiotics and told me to drink a lot of water. I felt lousy for a couple of weeks. Hope you feel better soon. |
Well, other than drinking lots of water there's not much you can do to make them pass. Cranberry juice is good to help keep infections at bay, but since your MD has you on antibiotics,(which is good) that's already covered. I'm assuming he did X-rays so he knows how many and their size. Is he having you strain your urine so you can collect the stones and he can send them off for content analysis? That may help to keep stones from forming in the future. If they are made up of one particular thing, you can avoid that in your diet. Sometimes they are and other times they are not made up of any one thing - just stuff you can't control. Soooo, drink up babe!:( |
My hubby just had a HUGE one! 10mm or so. They told him to drink lots of water, but, it didn't go anywhere. They had to surgically remove it. If you are still in pain don't wait too long. Keep buggin the Dr, and have them do the ultrasonic treatment. Unfortunatly for the hubby, that was not an option out here. Best of luck and hope you feel better! |

Definitely drink LOTS of water. It's no surprise to me that just a hundred years ago and onwards, people died from having kidney stones. Percocet and Vicodin helped a ton, but even then there was a considerable amount of pain. Hopefully you won't have it so bad. Make sure you take ALL the antibiotics too! |
MY DH had one a couple of years ago and the ER Dr told him beer and lemonade are best at stimulating the kidneys. Of course, you can't drink the beer with your meds. Hope you're feeling better soon! |
I am going in tomorrow to try one surgery for my two kidney stones. Mine are 2.5 cm and 2 cm in diameter. So there is no passing them, they have to be removed. Definately strain your pee so that the doc can check out the stones so they can find out how to avoid them in the future. I was told to drink lemonade and at least 10 8 oz glasses of water a day. I was just back in the er because of mine on sunday night. Hopefully yours are small and can just pass naturally. I am scared to death about my surgery tomorrow BUT will be very glad to have them gone. |
Two... Surgery on the first....passed the second one.....mine were flat...not round so they did not roll........ Urologist said lots of fluid....and add lemon to everything....water, drinks...everything.... |
thank goodness .. i think i passed at least one of them.. i measured it and it was 4mm. i'm on antibiotic, pain killers and cranberry pills. i had the kidney scan and because of the jewish holiday i'm still waiting for the results to see how many i have. the dr at the radiology center said i have 1 3mm stone blocking my bladder, but i have to wait for my dr to tell me if there's more in my kidney. |
i just went thru having one removed. If you want to email me, feel free. I have the stint right now and the largest stone is still in, but I already feel so much better. I was scared to have the surgery, but it was soooo worth it. |
