The same things are sold all over the internet, you find the same beds, toys, clothes and blankets on heaps of different websites. Don't sweat it, how many different ways are there to make a blankie? |
I think it is real sweet that you are apologizing. But totally unnecessary. As someone else pointed out, there are tons of online stores and websites that sell the same products. You are bound to have similar fabrics and products as there are only so many out there. So don't worry about it, you have done nothing wrong!! |
I will agree with nearly everyone that has posted already and say that I think it was unnecessary for you to apologize. It's not like it's a TRADE SECRET on how to make blankets, for heaven's sake. People just need to chill out! This is the kind of thing about YT that upsets me is the stuff we don't see...that's ridiculous that anyone should tell you what you can or cannot do. You are a human, and unless it's patented, that's your decision if you want to do it or not. I wish you all the best on your blankets and other doggy things :) |

Thanks for your post...I hope this gets moved to the "right" place so nobody gets upset....I just had NO idea where the "right" place was..... |
Hey Pepe Mint, You have every right to make the blankets. This is America! We encourage that kind of thing! Another thing you can do is rent a booth at a local craft fair. There are a LOT of pet owners that would love a blanket. And it's a great way to meet people! I love doing craft fairs. I even have a tent that I use if the fair is held outside. It's a blast and it brings in extra money. (But I really like meeting new people and developing relationships with vendors I see at other craft fairs.) You still run into people who are selling the same thing as you and they are soooo petty! But then there are those who sell the same thing and you end up offering up ideas to help each other's business. Those are the ones I really enjoy being with! Good luck in your endeavors! Brenda |
I understand why you are posting this, and it's true that it is not necessary, but you needed to do it because you want to make sure nobody thinks you're trying to step on someone's shoes. That shows that you are a nice person. If I were you, I would try to think of something that can make you unique, I don't know, maybe adding certain product or adding something on your blankies that nobody else is offering. Many people here offer blankets, but if you come with something unique, even if it's small but something that you though about, nobody can say anything about that, because you are different. You can still offer the regular blankies, but also offer something that identifies you. Just a thought :) |
You go girl... |

I don't think you have anything to apologize for. We all pretty much buy our fabric at Joann's. There are only so many different styles out there, and especially the fleece is rather limited. This is a free country and anyone is entitled to go into business. Even if you are offering a similar product as other people, no two products from each company are alike. Every handcrafted item bears the "marks" of its crafter, and those subtleties are what stands out in a product. Those who like the "marks" of one crafter may not like the "marks" of the other. It's all good, and anyone who does great work will find that they will continue to attract a regular clientele and has nothing to worry about from other crafters in the "pool." fwiw, my :twocents:, jmho, and all that... |
if you want to make the knotted blankets, go ahead. Unless the person has a patent or something, you have just as much right to make them as she*/he does. K-mart doesn't ask walmart if they can sell like or similar items. It's business. |
Keep your head up and do what makes you happy:thumbup: . BTW, I checked out your site and loved it. It was very easy to navigate:thumbup:  |
you do not have to say you are sorry. my goodness.....so many people make the same things. that is aweful that someone has felt you have stepped on their toes. believe me, i see so many things that are identical to other peoples. this is business!!!!! my neice, a friends daughter, my breeder, and an old co-worker of mine does the same thing. believe me, what you are doing, a thousand of other people are doing the same thing. good luck to you and your small business that you have taken lots of time to produce. |
