When did you realize that you..... were to old to go out and party all nite.....lol We celebrated my friends birthday yesterday. I was hesistant on going anyway with my new promotion but went ahead and went anyway since none of them report to me. Started off at dinner with drinks then off to the bar..... By 1030 I was like ok ... to much smoke blah blah blah...... I hung in till 1 then was like ok I gotta go! I was thinkin yanno Id rather be at home playin with Sam, watchin movie, doing laundry:eek: then to take one more whif of this smoke. |
Hilarious...welcome to my world....it's not that I don't want to party into the wee hours but I guess with age comes wisdom..hahaha...you know you have tons of stuff to the next day and having a headache does not help the situation. I still party big on occasion but only the big occasions like milestone events, but not like I did when I was in my 20's and 30s that's for sure! Oh and since Ohio passed the no smoking ban - most of the restaurants we go to are smoke-free - and I love that!! (it makes it just a tad easier to breathe). |
I hear ya....I don't exactly remember the age but it was probably around 30...just about every weekend was "party time" .....at some point I began to nurse one hot drink all night...then I noticed as the night progressed the alcohol seemed to melt some brain cells with each consumed drink....the people got stupider, louder and some got hostile the later it got.....the interest just vanished, it no longer was fun..... I couldn't wait to get home and shower that cigarette smoke off and climb into my jammies and enjoy the calm and quiet...if I want a drink now it's at home by the fire.... |
I realized I was too old after my son was born. Hubby and I decided to go out dancing one night. By 10:00, I was ready to go home. I prefer to stay home, anyway. I don't like the heavy smoke or the kids with attitudes. I'd rather curl up on my bed with the furbabies and read a good book. |
I agree after my first daughter was born, I was too old! haha. I went to a close friends party at a club up in LA....I couldn't hang! I stayed the whole time, but, I was DIEING to go to bed! How sad is that? I was only 24 toO! o_O |
I'm 20 but sometimes i would rather stay home with my babies or do something like dinner, not party. My mom is 50 and on occasion she will go out with her sister or with friends and her dh to a party, or concert but she works hard so she deserves it. |
Funny thread!! I hear ya! Once Illinois went smoke free this year though, I have discovered that a lot of my hangovers were much worse because of the smoke. But I think there's a point where "the fun you had the night before isn't worth the crap you feel like the following day". That was the turning point for me!! |
It's not that I can't go do it..I just don't like the NEXT day very much.. after turning 30-35.. It's way harder the NEXT day.. which back in the day didn't phase me at all. It's a whole new crowd..here- I'd rather stay home and watch Cops and AMW than be out in the bars with THOSE same kind of people..LOL But Bailey made it easier to WANNA stay home, much easier. |
I started feeling that way when I started teaching college and realized that every time I went out I ran into students!!!!! And honestly, I just can't keep up anymore. I'd rather be home playing soccer with Simon in my jammies and knowing that I'll be able to get out of bed the next day :) haha I love it when my friends say "you're only 30, go out" but really, I'm happy and content not to. I guess my priorities changed :) |
LOL, I think I was born to be in bed by 9. One drink for me, and I'm gone:fainted: But I do like to watch people drink, they get kind of funny. :embar: |
When my body and head told me I was just to old.:D |
Shoot, I quit when I got my first yorkie! And I was only 22. I just became a homebody when I had such a wonderful home to go to! I might not have real babies, but I feel like when I bought them, I was making a commitment to them and to my home to be here. If I wanted to spend all of my free time out, I wouldn't have gotten the dogs in the first place! They make such a happy home! That doesn't mean I won't stay up late on YT! |
LOL! This makes me think about that old saying "the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak"! I'm one of those in bed by 9:30 people, too! Years ago when I was divorced I went out on the weekends my kids were with their Dad, but it got old. I found out I'd rather stay home with my kids and a good book. |
i think im realizing it now and im 22... im getting really tired already before midnight!! hahaha :p |
I'd still love to go out and party at times, but the town I live in has nothing to do so I stay at home :). When I was in Boston about a year and a half ago, I went out 7 nights a week. It's funny how your body almost gets trained to do that, because I would still wake up, go to work and be totally fine. But, I went out the other day to a friend's party and was ok the night, but the next day was a killer! So, I'm very out of the partying loop :). |
My daugters bachlorete party 3 wks ago was the first drink i had in over a yr, I had 2 drinks and was feeling fuzzy, im just not a party girl i guess, My party is here with my 4 furkids:D its always a party, one of them is always doing something funny or bad:cool: |

Exactly! You only get a two-day weekend and I was finding myself napping on Saturdays so I could stay out late them sleeping all day Sundays or worse yet suffering with a hangover all day. I was wasting perfectly good time off! It wasn't worth it anymore and I don't care how old you are - you can hit that point at any time or never! |
I think it was like 27 for me! I just got tired of going out, wasting so much money and the hangovers were quicker to come and lasted a whole lot longer! Now Im 30 and I do like to go out still but not as often and I don't drink much anymore when I do! I figure if Im going to be tired the next day I might as well not be tired AND hungover! :D :D |
I guess i must have been a late bloomer!!! I was close to 40 when I stopped partying - lol!!! And now at 56, well I'm practically a shut in - I hate socializing, hate leaving the house - am practically an agoraphobic... What do you suppose could have changed me so much??? I'm not kidding here. Seriously, any answers would be welcome. |

or maybe depression? sometimes when you do the same things over and over it gets old and then u feel like u dont wanna do anything anymore but maybe its a new hobby u need!! :) |
I don't know about partying all night (been a long time since I've done that) but I knew I was getting old when I started falling asleep on the couch every night a 9:00. |
I've always said I don't know why the bars don't start getting busy around 7:30 and then close by 11:00. There would be less hangovers, cause people would get more sleep. I never understood the whole, not going out until 10:30. I'm jammied up way before then!!! It started for me around 33. Hangovers were MUCH worse, and I can't just lay in bed all day!! |
I think I finally realized it about 2 years ago when I quit smoking @ 52.....I'm normally in bed by 9:00 and up at 5:00 and after dealing with 450+ kiddos everyday I'm just too wiped out at night anymore. My friends just couldn't seem to understand why on a Friday night I wasn't rearing to go out partying....I am soooooo much more content with being home in a nice quiet house with my lil one playing with her then out in the bar scene with all the noise and smoke.... |

I know back when I was younger -- you didnt hit the bar until 11 and you didnt stop sometimes until 4 or 5. It went from Thurs - Sun. Thurs was always coin night-- who remembers those days???? Where a roll of nickels and you were set for the night! Now, I would be be good with the 7:30 - 9:30 and after hours be 9:30-midnite, lol |
Right now I'm only 15 but I have never had an urge to party- and I'm pretty sure I never will. I like to be in by dark, so my parents dont have to worry about a curfew or anything. And Abby goes everywhere with me so if I dont want to do something, she's my easy way out ("oh, I have to go home and feed Abby her supper!" or "no they dont like dogs guess I can't go!") I dont even like to be in crowded places I prefer to be with a few friends. So I have friends, a boyfriend, a beautiful yorkie, and parents who trust me. I think I'm doing just fine without any partying ;) |
