OK not to discount your story, because it's funny, but here's why. The detectors wired to your security system are probably photoelectric. They detect smoke PARTICLES. The other cheaper ones are ionization which go off from steam, humidity or from cooking. I know this because we have a smoke detector about 5 feet from our stove and it went off every single time we tried to cook anything. BOILING WATER would set this thing off. We replaced it with a photoelectric one and didn't have that problem anymore. :D |

In an emergency like that, to shut the alarm off, use the air compressor (dust cleaner) that we use for the keyboards of our computers... or pull the battery! That worked for me .... I just know you were frantic .... I have been there ... |
hahahahahahaha OMG i am laughing so hard right now lol not only cause it's funny but because i can relate! My mom's alarm does this everytime you shower. I also have one that is under my swamp cooler and it started going off all the time i think it was from the moisture from the cooler but we finally had to take it out because it would go off randomly in the middle off the night scarring me half to death and me waking the kids to run out of the house in my pj's lol. Sometimes i really hate them lol |
