Dog chained to dog house dies from heat exhaustion My best friend just called me in tears. She has been telling me about this dog that has been chained up about 300 feet from the owners house in the back. They finally put a dog house out there. well, this weekend, the dogs chain got kinked up within itself and the dog could not reach its dog house or water bowl...it laid there and died from the heat. it has been over 100 here for at least 3 weeks with no rain!!!...we have had our first break the last few days!!! I can't believe people like this. I can't stand to see dogs chained up like that...and this is exactly why. unbelievable. |
What kind of dog was it? I heard of a similar situation this weekend. |

I think I talked to the owner on Saturday! It has to be the same person because I asked her where she lived. She sells bows and such at the Nashville flea market at the fairgounds. I order bows from her for Lily and Dixie. She was making them and started to tell me about how upset she was because her daughter had just called to tell her that her dog had died of heat exhaustion. She said there was nothing she could have done because a dog belongs outside and should be able to take the heat:mad: I will NEVER purchase from her again! Someone should chain her up outside. |
I due hope the authorities were contacted about this. Those heartless people need to be taken to court! If they had checked on the dog during the day at all they would have noticed the problem. Why do people get dogs and tie them in the yard and forget about them? Makes no sense at all. |
WOW....they also have a dog that looks like a mini pitt bull (not sure what breed it is) but she has a bunch of puppies and they are all kept outside under their deck. it kills me. does she live in ashland city? and she makes dog bows?? weird. Quote:

She actually makes bows for children but I use the ones for newborns with the alligator clip for the dogs. She also sells other hair accessories. It has to be the same person. She told me what the dog looked like but I can't remember. It was a bigger dog, with thick hair I think. |
That is SO tragic. I despise the "yard dog" mentality. There are so many people down here that have "pet" dogs and then they have "yard" dogs that just live their lives in the yard, just to provide "barking" security. It makes me want to vomit. I truly despise humans such as that. |
Unbelievable! How horrible! We are in Atlanta and it has been brutal here. Considering I can't make it from my car to the grocery store without feeling the effects of the heat, I cannot imagine how anybody would think their pet is ok (even if he or she did have water) living outside chained up. That is just TOO HOT!!    |

Yeah, same person. Lousy excuse for a Human IMO. She said that her neighbors had told her that he was making odd whining noises before he died :cry2: She truly seemed to be surprised that he couldn't take the heat. Maybe she really is just that ignorant. |

Oh that is so sad. My Neighbor keeps her 3 out chained in the back yard no matter what the weather. I feel so sorry for those dogs |
