Anyone have a Juicer??? - reviews please
 
I am looking to buy a Juicer. I mainly want it to juice veggies for TJ and Roxy. I will also use the pulp. I want something that is easy to clean, as I would be using the juicer everyday. I don't want to spend a fortune, but at the same time, I don't want to buy junk either. ;)

Any suggestions :confused:

We have the Jack Lalaine one.

It's good, but I wouldn't say it's great.

They say you can put things through with seeds/pits in, but that's bull...you get little chunks (kind of like coffee grounds) when you do :thumbdown

The pulp really does come out paper dry, though.

We've had 3 different juicers and they all claim that they have the one that produces less pulp..trust me...they all leave pulp behind. I love my juicer but it takes a ton of fruit/veggies to make one glass of anything...so unless you have a farmer's market or roadside market you can get your fruit/veggies at a decent price then go for it....going to the regular old grocery store to buy can get expensive. But there is no beating the taste of fresh juice in the morning or anytime for that matter. Check Consumer Reports too - they do wonderful reviews on all products.

There are just so many brands out there.

Here is the situation. Roxy and TJ had very high BAT results and I have started them on food and treats that are good for liver compromised dogs.

One of the things is to feed juiced celery or zuccinni every morning. So I am not going to be juicing a whole lot, but I will use it everyday for this purpose. And as far as the pulp, I can use that to go into their food as well.

I just don't want to buy a piece of s***

Then I would say get one that has a wide mouth so you don't have to cut up anything into little pieces. That's one feature I do like and the one I have now has that.

I have the Breville right now and I have the Waring - I used to have the Jack LaLanne one but gave that one away when I got my Breville.

Breville is about $300-400 but my little Waring was under a $100 and did the job for me!! Plus the Waring looks nice on my counter (black and stainless)

The juicers are ok, but you have to be very careful about how much your giving the dog. It takes a ton of fruit or veggies to make just a little, and that is VERY concentrated, so you would only give a tiny bit. I've had juicers and have given them to my kids. I just give my dogs cut up fruit, and I chop veggies to add to their meal..........simple and less expensive. ;)

I orderd the Magic Bullet machine off of the TV. It is everything you need and more. They sell them at Walgreens, but check to see if it has the juicer. Check on the net, just type in Magic Bullet. I love mine and it is small and is out of the way on the counter. Just remember when you see them, to make sure it has the Juicer part to it. You can buy them with or without.

Yup that's the one and for the price and for what you want it to do - should work just fine. Let us know how it works for you. :D

1 tbps of juice from celery or zuccini a day is suppose to be very good and helpful for Liver Compromised dogs. So this is the only purpose I would be using a juicer for.

I have also had to switch from Raw food over to food that is best suited for Liver Compromised dogs, so they do get other cut up pieces of fruit and veggies. ;)

OH, I see! Try to find information on juicing cabbage for the liver. I've heard it was excellent, but that isn't me saying this, but it would be worth a look see. There are some excellent holistic cook books for dogs too that you could check on.

I started with a hamilton beach from target. Then bought a Juiceman...went back to my little hamilton beach juicer.
Try some of the juice yourself. I like celery, zucchini, apple, carrot & parsley together.

I have a "JuiceLady" that I got from Ebay when I decided I wanted one. I know it retails for about $300 and I only paid $40 including shipping.

I can put fruit with rinds and seeds in it and one of that comes out in the juice. The juice is also really frothy. It is fairly easy to clean, but takes up lots of counter space. The pulp does come out very dry, but I'm not sure you would need to mix that in with their food.

With this juicer there is an opening you put the fruit in. You can't use whole pieces of fruit, but usually cutting in 1/2 will work just fine.

I bought one and another and they were not cheap then finally got the Vita Mix Machine :happyboun :happyboun (when the rep was at Costco.) Absolutely love it, wish I had known right off about this one. I wouldn't do without it. It is worth every penney spent on it and am sure in no time you will be using it for yourself as well as for Roxy and TJ. The first two I bought was the Omega Juicer and the second was the Green Power Juicer (which is horrible to clean) The Omega (formerly called Olympic) was also :( The Vita Mix is super pleasure to use and clean. Good luck in your choice. I use mine everyday, and things that my husband isn't able to eat he gets through the use of the Vita Mix.
