If you sew..... What is the one tool/piece of equipment (besides the sewing machine, obviously LOL) that you could NOT live with out??? I just bought a rotary cutter and I think I am in love LOL |
Thread...:lol tears Sorry...I couldn't help myself...but, seriously...material and scissors are right up there too! |
HMMMMMM... this is a tough one! I am a sewer AND quilter....I think I would have to say the cutting board...that goes along with the rotary cutter. I'm sure there are many other things but, I can't think right now...been painting all day and I think the fumes may have gotten to me!!:p |

glad we got it out in the first post LOL |
Ahhhhhh, a good ole pattern/measuring tape/straight pins :D |
The seam ripper. I am constantly taking apart what I put together. |
Ahhh the rotary cutter...mmm...mmm...mmm! That IS a great one! Can't really answer yet. I just ordered a ruffler foot and a rolled hem foot. Let's see if those are my can't live withouts!! |
My new serger!!! It has simplified my life so much already! |
Rotary Cutter and TIME :D |
I sew for a living in the Navy (I am a parachute rigger) and I can not live without a flat razor. So much faster than a seam ripper, makes my life SO much easier! Oh and a great pair of shears, and Pinking shears too! |
I love the rotary cutter as well, and I also love my clear view plexi ruler, dressmaking shears, and glass straight pins. :) |
I would also have to say seam ripper...my motto..."you rip what you sew"!!! :D |

Glass straight pins? Now that is one thing I never heard of. I would have to agree with the previous poster and say the seam ripper. I have to have it right or I rip it out! |

Another favorite sewing tool - my sewing magazines and books :) |

The seam ripper, pins & pattern. |
glad to know i'm not the only one that uses the seam ripper a lot LOL |
My clapper, my seam roll and my tailor chalk are my best sewing friends. I could never finish a garment without those. Of course most of the other things I need too. But these make my garments look so much nicer than many home-made items. I love to sew. Sometimes when I make a mistake I love ripping it out, thinking about how I won't do it that way again, and trying to think of a better way to do it.:) |

Okay, I didn't know what a clapper was but looked it up. If anyone is as ignorant as me, maybe this will help: http://www.fabriclandwest.com/Notion...ly_sewing_.htm |

Ok, I have been enlightened....you learn something new everyday :) I also didn't know what a clapper was....Ignorant me...I thought it was that thing that you used on your livingroom/bedroom lights...clap on/clap off... :) Now I know !!!!!! |

That's funny! You made me laugh. I guess it would be important to have light to see when you are sewing! I had seen a clapper before, but didn't know what it was called. I just knew it as that thing that made ironing sleeves easier. |
Oh yes, and I forgot fray stop! |
Great question. Someone just sent this to me, I use to love, love to sew. Washer/Dryer, first thing I do when I buy fabric is to pre-wash/dry it. Ready to sew, whenever. My five drawer roller caddy for keeping sewing supplies organized. I always appreciated my bias seam makers, have all the sizes. Embroidery hoop, as loved doing monograming and embroidery work with my sewing machine. Narrow paper tape, (used for holding bangs) I found this to be so helpful when sewing on slipperfy fabrics. Easily removed. Liquid sew, to tiny tack things to top stitch instead of using pins, also comes in handy many times over with sewing projects. I look forward to when I can sew again, especially for the girls :) Patti |
