I've stocked up on extra food and water for all my doggies, but I don't think we'll evacuate this time. My daughter-in-law is in Nacogdoches. We could go there, but she's due to have my #7 g-baby in a couple of weeks and with my son in Iraq, I don't want to do that to her. Of course, we'll go there for the baby's birth on September 6th. YES - I'm a worrier! |

That is catastrophic!! |
It is making me so nervous. I am in NY visiting and my fiance, Benji and Bella are at home. I am supposed to be coming back next Wednesday but we'll see about that. I am really worried because I am not home with them. : ( |

Hopefully we won't get a direct hit! Even if we don't, we'll get plenty of rain and high winds. I bet the new roads will be packed with people hidding our way since we're in the evacuation route. Too bad they're not finished with the road yet. |

I was living in Houston in 1983 when hurricane Alicia hit dead on - and that was only a cat 3 - very scary - inches of glass in the downtown streets from shattered windows in skyscrapers - many tornadoes throughout the area!!! Please take care of yourselves and get out of the area if you can and need too!! God bless you all! |
Please PM me if you think you might be evacuating through Waco. We can give you and your pets a break at least and help you figure out routes around here other than I35. If you need a place to rest or stay, we're here too. Hugs!! |
I just got this in my e-mail tonight as a severe weather alert for my area  County urges residents to prepare for Hurricane Dean Local emergency officials monitoring Hurricane Dean urge residents to keep aware as Dean may impact the coast Wednesday and make landfall Thursday. GREAT!!!!! :thumbdown |

In '05, my friends, son and Chester spent 17 hours making a 2.5 hour trip. We've decided to wait a little longer this year, which may or may not be a mistake. I'm only about 12 blocks from the gulf so I'm a bit nervous, but try not to let it rule my emotions. I've been through earthquakes in California, tornadoes in north Texas, hurricanes in the south and snowstorms in Utah. About the only thing I haven't done is the fires in the west. It doesn't matter where you live, there are natural disasters. It does pay to be prepared, so I'm headed off to Wally-World for a flashlight, food and water. I have more dog food in the house than I do human food! Hang in there everybody. Villette - what part of town are you in? I have a sister in Spring. If things get bad, I'm going there. |

After living 7 years in Myrtle Beach, I will praying for you all to be safe. Do whatever it takes to keep yourselves out of harm's way. |

Isn't the latest info that it will miss Texas? Flooding will still be an issue, but will those of you in the valley or on the coast still need to evacuate? Just curious what your officials are saying. |
no need to evacuate... we are set pretty good now. it is expected to weaken even more. and head even more south too. great news for us. I can tollerate a small hurricane but not a big one. I think we will get nothing more than a couple strong storms out of it. |
