Xanga.com (and other online journals) How many of you use www.xanga.com? I have become heavily involved in blogging (web logging) for over a year now. I really enjoy my blog on Xanga.com as a way to journal my life, tell stories, show pictures, and keep up with friends and relatives! I have even made a few new friends through this site! I print my blogs out and put them into a notebook - my way of keeping track of my life! It is really neat because I have kept this blog my first entire year of newlywed life and now I have a record of everything we did, how I felt, etc.! I would love to encourage anyone to start a free account at www.xanga.com and start blogging asap! If you sign up, let me know and I would love to help you customize your web design to make it more "you". I love doing this and I am VERY familiar with the settings, so let me know and I'd love to help ya get started!. If you already have an account at Xanga.com - or any other web journaling site, leave it in your response here and let me know! If there are a sizable amount of us on here who have Xanga accounts, I would love to start a YorkieTalk.com blogring on Xanga. Wouldn't that be neat? Feel free to read and/or subscribe to my website. Xanga I love your site! I would like to try to do something like that so my friends and family could keep up wiht me and the kids and the yorkies......but I have no idea even where to start........ |

Your grandmothers site is too cute.......I put it in my favorites so I can check back and read the "juicy" behind the scenes wedding stories if she posts them later on! They will be very good for late night reading...... LOL I would love your help, what do I need to do to get started? |
To get started, you need to first talk with the family members that you think would enjoy participating. Or, you could sign up for your own account first, either way. You can sign up for an account at www.xanga.com = Pick out a screen name and password for yourself. Oh, and for family members who do not want to write, they can still sign up for an account because if they have their email address linked to an account, they will get emails of your postings as soon as you do them! It really is a genius way to keep in touch! (And once you sign up for an account you can, only if you want, PM me your screen name and password, along with what kind of web design you want and I'll pull together something really cute for you!) |

I use blogger. I like it much better than xanga and livejournal (no offense to those who use those). I've had all three and have settled in nicely with blogger. |

OK, I know this REALLY dates me, but, if I start a blog, why would I want random people off the internet to know my whole life story? Can just any old person read it? I'm not sure I'm that trusting...I trust most of you guys, hehe, but not every random person who happens to be surfin' that day. Am I missing something?? |
Cynthia - Yes, random people do just surf right in. I've actually made some good friends that way -- 2 from Chicago, 1 from Nova Scotia, 1 from Boston, a White Sox fan in California, etc. Its like having penpals! I don't write super personal stuff in there. I mostly post pix and write articles about current events, etc. :) |
It's a interesting concept and it's really addictive. I think my blog is more addictive to me than YorkieTalk is. People can browse and click through and read things about you. I click through, too, and read random things about people. I can't really explain it, but sometimes it's interesting if you land on someone that you knew way back in High School or something. That's happened to me a lot of times. Friends from back then, relatives I lost in touch with, et cetera. I don't have a problem with people reading my page because I don't put everything about myself and my daily life on there. I update it maybe 2 times a week, 3-4 times at most. |

I have Xanga too! I started my Xanga acct. at the end of this past school year to keep in touch with my two roommates. We had spent the past 9 months knowing every single detail of each others' lives, how were we supposed to live for 3 MONTHS without each other!?!?!?! So we decided to document as much as we could of our summer. Needless to say, we miss quite a few days, but we're good about updating when we get a chance. Valerie - I would LOVE if you could help me personalize my page - I just go through and change it from one pre-set crap to the next pre-set crap when I get bored with how it looks. :p I'd also love to be able to post pictures of :aimeeyork Dash and things that I'm doing over the summer. Any help would be appreciated!! ;) Oh yeah - and I LOVE the idea of a YT.com webring!!! |
