Debra, thanks for all the info, we'll be making some changes as you suggested, if she's here we might as well do the best we can for her..... As soon as I saw your spider the Rosea like ours I was thinking, wow her's is pink, then I saw your explanation as to why. lol....Those Brachypelma's are actually pretty the colors look so glowing, very nice....He never named his, and he always assumed it was male, fooled him :) .... A while back my son was looking on the internet for another one and asked if he could get one of those Asian ones ( I think) when he told me it could jump 10-15 feet I had to put my foot down  ......you are correct, the Rosea we have is very docile, she barely moves, the kid that had her before us used to handle her, but I haven't gotten to that point yet.... WOW!!....That picture you posted is absolutely beautiful, you have wonderful talent as a painter!!..I've always envied people who can paint like that....I hope your putting it to good use because your phenomenal !!! |
Absolutely beautiful, good for you guys to be raising them .I love spiders and snakes.Hubby will not even let me and the kids get a grass snake.. He would not allow me to get a spider either for I am the spider patrol here I usually pick them up and take them outside when we find them in the house,I try not to kill them. |
Geez, I wish I would've skipped those pics! I hate spiders, HATE spiders, and now I feel like my skin is crawling and my feet aren't touching the floor either. |
One I could handle, but 70 I'm not coming to visit you unless I want to have nightmares. |

I really do admire you though Highland! I couldn't do it but Im glad there are people like you and your hubby that are going to make a difference in saving a species, despite my feelings, it would be a shame if they went extinct. I live in New England and we don't get any dangerous or big spiders up here thank god! Snakes Im fine with though! No problems, catching, holding .. nothing! Spiders... whole 'nuther story! I usually get my boys (yorkies) to eat them up when I find them in the house... thats how much I hate them to be in my house or outside. The other day my dexter brought me a HUGE wood spider all dead and mangled, dropped it at my feet! soooo disgusting and once he saw I didnt want it, he proceeded to eat it! I was GAGGING!!!!! My beautiful adorable sweet baby ate a disgusting gross horrifyingly ugly BUG! HAHAHAHA |

OMG you are hilarious that was so funny i thikn every one here thinks im crazy we had a tarantulaa he was so nice and awesome he would crawl all over us and it felt funny |
Spider's huh, Yuck! I know they all have a very important role to play in our environment but Yuck! It's a good thing we have people like you and your hubby to see that they continue to breed and save them from extinction. I think the webs that spider's make is truly magical. All the sides are so perfect. Yet, I don't like them. Yuck again. |

Oh super yuck I dont like spiders at all. It was interesting looking at their pictures and reading about them though |
OK - the thought of you living with all those tarantulas just tears my nerves up:eek:  All I can think about is the spiders we get here - brown recluse, black widow, scorpions, etc. Every one I've seen is now dead.:p Sorry - I just can't handle spiders. |
I would seriously consider divorcing my DF if he came home with one of those things, let alone a billion of them  I'm going to have the heebie jeebies for the rest of my life after all those pictures lol I'm TERRIFIED of spiders. The one that grows the size of a dinner plate...oh hell no. I didn't know you could get those as ...uhh... pets? lol I saw those on the discovery channel once. One of them ate a BIRD. |
