Recipe for stuffed onions
 
Does anyone have a good recipe for stuffed onions. I'm looking for one that uses ground beef and the part of the onion that was carved out.

Those do ALL look good. Yorkiedaze, Have you tried any of the ones you gave me? And Nvnvgirl, How long do you bake yours and at what temp.
I can almost taste these onion dishes now. Can't wait to try them out!

I've made the first one twice so far. The second time I made these, I used Ragu spaghetti sauce instead of tomato paste. It was even better. I also draped two strips of bacon over my husbands and he loved it.

me too! we have something with onions in it every night for dinner i absolutly love onions!! I wish there was a recipe with sausage and cream cheese in it that sounds really good to be stuffed into an onion lol

One of my friends here at work makes the with mixed vegetables, browned ground beef and beef gravy to keep it moist. Then she bakes them. I'm still wondering how long and at what temperature though.l LOL

Oops...sorry it took me so long to get back....the recipe says to cook them 40-60 minutes. It's been awhile since I made them, but I think that it did take maybe about 50 minutes and then I put the bacon on top for 10.....they really are good. I also have made them with a recipe of jalapeno baked beans and they were equally as good. In fact, when I did that, I think I decided that the original recipe was just as good and not as much work:) . And I believe I baked them at 325-350 deg, since that's usually what I cook in the oven at. Also, now that I think about it, I think I put the bacon criss-crossed across the top of the onions and cooked it along with the onions. It must have been in the original page that I tore out of a cooking magazine!

I tried making a couple on Sunday but failed failed failed. I think I parboiled the onions for too long and one of them split open when I tried to stuff it. Then I didn't cut up the onions that were in the stuffing small enough. Oh well if at first you don't succeed.....

I would try NOT parboiling the onions; just scoop out most of the insides and chop what you scoop out, and saute that and then stuff whatever you're putting into the onion and then put it in the oven in a baking dish, maybe with a LITTLE water in the bottom, and cook til it's done.

I must be on an onion kick or something. I tried to make French Onion Soup and it turned out yucky too. Do you have a recipe for that as well?

Yes...and it's posted in the YT cookbook if you go there and look under my name. It's excellent and I've made it a LOT of times. I don't do the bread and cheese on top, but I did once and it was good too; just too much fat and calories imo.
