Brenda Watson weight loss plan.... I just saw this woman last night for a few minutes and was wondering if any one has checked out her "Fiber 35" book on weight loss..... She doesn't say anything we probably haven't heard before ...eat your grains, fruit, veg. etc.....but I like the idea when someone spells out the meals out for you....her plan is that if we eat 35 grams of fiber a day we will lose weight, feel better, and never feel hungry....what do you think?.... http://www.brendawatson.com/In-the-News/Brenda's-News/F35Letter/ |
I have her book and it makes sense. My New Year's resolution was that this was the year for me - so since January I have lost over 30 pounds and almost 5 pounds to my goal weight..yeah....I also went to a nutrionist and here is what she said.....I'm not eating enough. I was so busy at work and wound't eat then go home and eat the frig...lol...so she put me on a 1400 low-fat; high-protein, 35 grams of fiber a day. Plus to eat 6 small meals a day - 3 main; 3 snacks. I found that the fiber was the key to it all - it makes me full and I wasn't getting hungry between meals. I also got the Abs Diet which is sort of geared towards men but for good for women. I almost got the book by Dr. Oz You on a Diet but didn't. Hope this helps!! |
That is pretty much what weight watchers is about also. The more fiber, the more filling. Fruits & veggies are high in fiber. Also whole wheat breads. Look for a high fiber cereal (raisin bran has the highest ive seen) for a breakfast that will carry you to lunch with no hunger. Of course, all of this takes time. At first you WILL feel hungry... your stomache is stretched from overeating but it will shrink and you will feel more & more fulfilled as time goes on. (when I say 'you' I mean 'a person' in general, not you specifically :D ) |

I would do the breakfast and lunch skip also, and then at dinner I would grab a cupcake, handful of chips, a piece of cheese etc. and that was while I was waiting for the microwave to heat my dinner.... I hear Dr. Oz has a great book also.... |

I tried eating that Fiber One cereal..it was like eating mulch, why is it that the stuff that's good for us tastes horrible.... |
That's another thing the nutrionist said (at the Cleveland Clinic) was that I had to start to eat breakfast which I didn't since I was always running out the door. So I started to do that - but don't give up on the Fiber One cereal - mix it with something you like - it does taste much better. Also - drink water, water, water. I got a lemon and cut slices up and put in my water bottle so that works. Also - get hooked on soy smoothies - that was good for the evening hunger while watching TV or something. It's like going to DQ all the time and I didn't think I would like soy but it's yummy. In your blender: 1 cup 8th Continent low-fat vanilla soy - I'm just weaning myself off the vanilla and going half regular and half vanilla 1 cup of whatever berries you want - fresh or frozen or 1 banana add 2T of whey protein powder - low carb one(low sugar) you can get from Suzanne Sommers or I think GNC carries a low-carb one add 1T of ground flax seed for your Omega 3 1 T Minute Maid frozen OJ with the calcium and on days you just want the smoothie for lunch - you can add 1 container of the Dannon yougurt that's only 60 calories throw in some ice cubes This is about 250 calories with the yogurt or 190 without it added. |

Oh I have another smoothie recipe too! I used to take a scoop of chocolate protein powder, 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries, 1/2 cup ice cubes, 1/2 cup water, and 4oz of strawberry, vanilla or chocolate (either) No sugar added ice cream or dannon carb control yogurt! Blend! I had it for breakfast! Its eating ice cream for breakfast!! how great is that?? HAHA (I have an ice cream weakness can you tell??:D ) Check out raisin bran cereal its not bad at all and it has 8 grams of fiber! Not many other cereals have that and the serving size is 1 cup vs 3/4 of a cup for most others! pb & J sandwiches (with a twist of course) are good for you too! No sugar added peanut butter (Teddys makes a good one) Polaners all fruit spread (with the jelly in the food store) and whole wheat high fiber bread. Yummy, sweet and good for you!! :) Im trying to thnk of the yummy things I ate when I did this 'nutrition plan' (I got these things from a nutrionist) and I lost 30lbs too! This was 4 years ago, I am trying to drop the 6lbs Ive put back on over 4 years! I drink Fruit2O water all the time! but yes, water is key! drink drink drink |
I love that recipe - I love ice cream too and it's one of my weaknesses besides pizza - so this smoothie recipe looks yummy. If you are into books I also have Jorge Cruz - his new cookbook and he has great recipes in there too. Your plan sounds a lot like mine - it was more of a lifestyle change for me. Trade Joes and Whole Foods is the best for finding great low-cal, low sugar and low carb foods. Thanks for sharing that one. Maybe we both can lose that last 5 pounds. :D |

I don't follow my plan anymore, however I walked away with MAJOR core adjustments that I stick to and Ive managed to keep off all but 6lbs of the weight for 4 years so Im happy with that! I know I'll lose it by oct for my friends wedding! I would LOVE to lose 15 more lbs after that but Im a size 8 now so Im not too worried if I never lose more weight! :) thanks for the cookbook advice, I'll go pick it up! I need to learn to cook! all I cook is chicken and veggies! haha |
