Maybe in some wierd way, we should thank Michael Vick. I mean it would have happened whether he was involved or not - his cronies or cousins would have done it anyway. At least because it was him - it's getting tons of attention and making an impact in the business world too - endorsements, merchandise, etc. If it wouldn't have been someone famous, it would probably have been swept into a corner if investigated at all.

One of his friends has already made a plea of guilty and I hope Vick gets life.(of course he won't but the dog lovers of the country are really letting the NFL know they better do something) As if he can't get enough kicks with his $130,000,000 contract he has to kill dogs. The Judge over the trial in November is supposed to be a tough one and that is good because between Vick and the NFL and the money they can spend on lawyers, this Judge better be tough. Make your voice heard no matter how you feel about this case.

You think its stupid for him not to be able to play in the NFL, Well i am sure that you want your kids looking up to a high paid athelete that kills dogs and fights dogs to death.

I am not a Vick fan nor a fan of any particular sports person..but i do like to watch football and just want to state the following which is my opinion.
Vick is being judged not for the game he plays or how he plays it, but for the company he kept and circling himself around folks who do not have as much to lose as he does...Also there is a clause in the nfl contract regarding conduct of the players and his conduct is in violation of is contract..he represents the NFL even off the field and he unfortuatenly did not hold up his end of the contract...:(

Yes, I know he's entitled to a fair trial and all that....blah, blah, blah. But if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it's most likely a duck. Sorry but he had a full scale operation going on at HIS place (including breeding!)so I don't think he was unaware of what was going on.:rolleyes: It makes me sick to think about what those poor dogs went through so that sick *!@# could get his jollys. :mad: He even had what he called, "rape stands" for breeding the females. What kind of man thinks like that?:confused: I wish he could get slammed and electrocuted just like those poor dogs. And I hope they have a "rape stand" just for him in prison.:mad:

The victims are every dog that is locate on his property and every dog they have fought. Have you ever seen a pitbull fight. It is so horrible to watch you will have the memory haunting you for the rest of your life! I would call them defenseless. They will never know love or friendship. They will only know kill or be killed. It is sad.

No one that is that insensitive to the pain and suffering (to say nothing of the destruction of the breed due to the fighting reputation) should be allowed to do anything in which he is considered a role model. How many kids now believe it is ok to hold dog fights because this guy does. If he is found guilty and is kicked out of the NFL, I will rejoice. The kids will see that it isn't worth it in the long run.

While I'm on the topic of this man I'd like to add that, Since he is in the NFL he is making some very good money. What, then, would compel him to raise and fight pitbulls? Is it the love of the sport? It is a pretty sick love if you as me. Is it for the money? Why would he need more?

Lou, I may be wrong but I took jp4m2's post as scarsam in relationship to the post she quoted.....I don't think she meant it the way you took it. Could be wrong though.

dont get me wrong its a horrible thing. But I think its even more horrible that everyone treated Vick this way before he even went to trial. These PETA groups and other organizations have no right and even nike for that matter to discriminate against him. Not sure if he was found guilty yet but if so he should serve his time and or pay the fine. But to say this man should no longer play in the NFL is stupid.

I am sorry but I don't aggree with you. If he is found guilty the NFL should
not allow him to play. Our young people look up to these athelet's with
great pride and inspiration. They are suppose to set an example for them.
So many of our young want to be just like them. There is so much sickness
in the world today someone has to get a hold on it. Vick has made so much
money between football and Nike there was no reason for him to get involved
in dog-fighting. If he is guilty, he is a sick man and needs to be put behind
bars because he will only do it again. Our youth need to know that what
he did was wrong and when you do something as severe as this there is a
penality to pay and it's not a slap on the wrist.
Those poor dogs died a horrible, painful death. He needs to pay!

Did anyone really read the legal complaint? I did. The money that he/they made on these fights was peanuts compared to Vick's salary and endorsements. So - sorry, but making a premature assumption here of guilt, knowledge, or conspiracy - it couldn't have been for the money. .... which leaves the much darker, more horrible explanation.

Alot of my friends and I feel these fights are all about Drugs. It's like putting up a sign that says "This is where you can get lots" and since they can't put up a sign they can for a dog fight, so that is where their big money comes in to play and that is their sick entertainment while they are there.

OMG - I had never heard or considered that. Well, hopefully that can track down some of that too then!
