The scare of my life We were supposed to leave to go out of town today but now we are not. My four year old daugher, Olivia, fell yesterday evening and scared the life out of all of us. She was climbed on the back of the couch (which she has been told 10001 times NOT to do) and fell off! She landed on her back hard enough that she was unconscience for what seemed like forever (in reality I think it was only about 30 seconds or less). It knocked the wind out of her, and caused her to tinkle on herself. I don't think I've ever been so scared. She hit the back of her head HARD and for a little while she was crying saying the FRONT of head hurt and her belly hurt really bad. Needless to say we spent the night in the ER with her. They let us go about 9am this morning. She is absolutely fine now. After all that, she doesn't even have a bruise! I don't care how tacky it looks, I am definitely moving all the furniture up against the walls now. Oh, she did crack everyone up because everyone kept asking her what her name was etc. One nurse asked her (probably for the 10th time) what her name was and she said, "You know, when my Mommy has a hard time remembering stuff she writes it down. Maybe you should do that too then you wouldn't have to keep asking me." |

When my youngest was about 7 he fell about 10 feet out of a tree in our backyard. I told my other son to stay with him and ran inside to call 911. He came in while I was on the phone and said, "Hey mom, why'd you leave me outside??" He was fine. :) |
I'm glad she's ok!! What a scare that must have been. |
well she certainly has a sense of humour.. lol.. i'm laughing so hard.. .. i' so sorry that she fell... it must have been very scary to see her lying on the floor like that! glad everything is ok :) |
Thats scary, Im so glad she is okay! |
She was frustrated because she wanted to go to sleep and they didn't want her to go to sleep because of hitting her head. We had to keep talking to her and asking her questions. When they took her for the CT scans and x-rays she said, "Finally. I can lay down!" I think I lost about 10 years off my life. My heart stopped when I saw the way she was laying and then when I noticed she was completely limp and not breathing I nearly passed out myself. Luckily DH was home and he called 911. |
First - I'm glad she is ok. Second - that has to be the funniest thing I've ever heard to come out of nowhere for a little child to say. She is very witty:) . Illl bet that nurse will be telling that story for a long time. |
Im glad everything is ok! Thats hilarious about the nurse! |
That was some fall she took to knock her unconsious. Thank heavens she has no after effects. However, she has some personality to come out with that line. Hysterical.:D |
WOW - I would have freaked out but thankfully you were able to keep yr wits and get her help. I'm so glad she is fine! Just reading the account of what happened made my stomach hurt. Sounds like she didnt knock anything loose since she had some great comeback lines. |
WOW! What a scary moment and evening you had. I can imagine the level of fear you had with your little one. Funny how kids tend to handle situations like that better than adults ..... sounds like you have one smart little girl! Write it down :) I am sure that her remark really broke the ice and helped lighten the atmosphere in the ER. Sending hugs and prayers of thanksgiving that Olivia is ok. |
That is so scary! Hugs for her and you! I'm glad she is OK. :) And that's so cute/funny what she said to the nurse! |
So glad she is okay! What a scare! She sounds like a very smart little girl, :D except for not listening to you about climbing on the couch, LOL!:D :D :D |
My what a scare that had to of been! She sounds like she is one smart cookie though to say that to the nurse! |
You must have been scared to death!!!! What a little joker you have to say that to the nurse and then for the CT scan!! |
