Artichokes Who all eats them? Also what kind of dip do you eat with it? Thanks |
I love artichokes....I dip mine in either butter or mayonaise....I wonder if it would be ok to give the heart section to a dog  |
IDK for yorkies, but for humans, we love them! We steam them and eat them with a butter/lemon mixture. Yummy! |

I boil mine in water w/garlic powder till they are tender and you can pull off a leaf easily. Then dip the ends of them in mayo or butter/lemon and pull across your teeth. When you get down to the heart, I cut that up and with a fork just dip it into the dipping sauce.....yummmmm. Oh....another thing I do before cooking them is to cut off the thorn on the ends of each leaf....makes it much easier to eat.. :p |

Keep lots of napkins and a big bowl to put the leaves in when you are finished with them. Funny side note here....hubby and I think eating artichokes is extremely **coughs** erotic. So we light candles, play soft music, etc... Enjoy! :D |

oooo i loooove artichokes .... in my fam, we boil them (my mom saves the stock and drinks it with her tea, its supposed to be very healthy for you) and we dip it in lemon juice, pepper, and a little bit of sugar (i think, maybe salt, i'll have ot ask my mom). oh i also love the artichoke appetizer at cheesecake factory ... i think they bbq and eat it with butter. |
Artichokes are safe for dogs as well :) http://www.caringforcanines.com/arti...diabetes.shtml |
I have never had them "fresh." The only way we ever have them is in Artichoke and Spinach Dip OR on an Antipasto Tray that I make. |
We love 'em here. Normally we steam them and use mayo for the dip. When were feelin' fancy I'll break out an ol' recipe from Cooking Light. It spruces up the steaming water with citrus zest and makes a roasted garlic dip sauce. :) |
Yuck artichokes. That's all I have to say. |
LOL! I feel the same way about English peas or lentils...if someone makes split pea soup....I'm outa there. However, if you've never tried them, find someone who does love and get them to make it for you. It's tough to buy them if you don't know what you're doing. It's hit and miss on good ones sometimes. |
