Well...having a funeral for our Van  Yup, you read that right LOL our 20 year old van kicked the bucket today. May not be totally dead yet, d/h is reading a book on it to see if he can give it Auto CPR and get it to last a bit longer by replacing a part or two... We had just run into the little nearby town for a bit, got home, and the van stalled at the bottom of the drive. My FIL came down and towed it up the drive for us so it isn't in the road...but for now, dead horse in the driveway. |
I know what you mean....my husband bought a new Jeep in 1990...he still has that thing to this day.....it's rusting out & he's replaced the windshield 3 times and was hit by hail the size if softballs, and it's been in several accidents.... but refuses to junk it....he said he paid for it so he will drive it till all that's left is 4 tires & the engine...he don't need the seat he'll just stand.... I refuse to get in that darn thing.....then he has the nerve to get offended if you call it a piece of sh*t.... |
Well for us this was our only means of transportation so it kind of is a big deal, but yes it is a piece of crap LOL but it was FREE and I wasn't complaining! I got it 8 months ago and the old thing (that we call Ol' Bessie) has served us well. :) |

Well they just sprayed starting fluid on it (whatever IT is LOL) and she fired up for a minute..and went capoot again LOLOL I hope it is just minor too!! I think my hubby is perturbed that I am not upset over it quitting on us. I guess i was more prepared for it than he was, I mean, I knew Ol' Bessie wasn't going to last much longer LOL |
aww that's sad.... my car is near dead too.. but she isn't THAT old... i know the day will come shortly when i go to switch from 1st to 2nd that it just isn't going to happen... lol... i hope Bessie pulls through for ya! |
What a bummer... like you need more stress right now... :thumbdown I hope you guys can get it fixed. What would you do if it's not fixable??? |
Sending hugs. We might need to do a virtural "laying on of the hands" for dear ole Bessie. |
Or how about donate a vehicle day??? :D |

So sorry, Alycia, about your van. Hope it can be resurrected. Cindy, I am curious, about the "laying on of the hands". |

Hubby figured out the problem yesterday. There is a wire that runs from the battery to the fuel pump...because apparantly at one point the fuel pump has been replaced and they just jimmy rigged it instead of properly doing it ...so the vibrations of the van while driving made it fall off. He fixed it some what so it does start and run now :) It might come apart again, but he said it isn't too hard to fix. We have to get clamps for the battery cables tho because apparantly those are gone LOLOL  And Omega, as far as what will we do, I guess accept it. No sense in getting mad or ranting against it....that wouldn't change things. :p My mom only lives 15 minutes away so if we needed to get to a Dr Appt or something of the like she would probably help us get there. And my FIL lives next door and he would probably make sure we could get to the store. Hubby says he won't trust our van to make long trips anymore. So short trips to the little local grocer is it. And maybe the gas station. |
YAH!!!..... Ole Bessie is back on the road, limping, but at least she's moving again.... Alycia, I really hope something better comes along, sometimes when you least expect it something pops up at just the right time....:) |
I guess there is not a funeral after all. Good!:) |
Yay! Glad it is going again. Keep those fingers crossed that it will last a good long time! |
I hope it gets it mojo back. It easier to work on the older cars. The newer ones have all that electronic stuff in it. |
