Yet again... I just read in my local paper of ANOTHER pit bull attack. This time is was a jack russel terrier that got hurt, required many surgeries, but is doing well. I just dont get it!! What is with these irresponsible dog owners???? Apparently, these two pits came running from behind a few hedges and jumped right on the dog. The only reason the dog survived is because he owner was able to 'kick' him underneath a car - which kept the pits from being able to get to him- I am just so mad about all of these attacks. Where are the owners?? :thumbdown GRRR SOrry i just need to get my anger out!!!!! |
I didn't see that one but on the 5 o'clock news there were 2 pitbulls that attacked a small child in Brooklyn. Last I heard it was over a sandwich she had in her hand. |
I don't know if its just in my state, but when I lived in NC they were trying to ban pitbulls. I feel sorry for the owners, becuase I know some can be sweet, but then you have ppl like Michael Vick! |
they really need regulations on who can own powerful breeds like that. Some people are morons and shouldn't be allowed to have them if they can't train and control them correctly. I love large dogs. I grew up with a doberman, a german shepard and a rottweiler (at different times). I learned respect for them and those were the best dogs when I was a child. |

I read a lot about dog training from the guy who owns leerburg kennels - he raises and trains german shepherd dogs. He has actually testified several times in court cases about these dog attacks and such. It's so stupid becuase most of the time these things are easily prevented. Beyond the simple "fence your dog in" - by letting more than one dog run together wild like that it increases their pack drive making them more aggressive. It's really bad around here becuase people let their dogs go "back to the wild" and release them in the country areas. They pack up and go CRAZY! We had a pack of feral dogs chase some calves through the fence last week and my brother in law had to stake out the cow pasture - he shot two of them before they could kill any of the calves but there were over a half dozen he said. Very dangerous! Letting multiple big breeds run unsupervised throughout the neighborhood is the absolute worst thing you can do. Scary! |
I don't know if this is just in MASS but from what I heard when a pitbull goes into a humane society they put them down, they do not adopt them out. I think its sad that they must fear the breed. I do see (around here) most pitbull owners are young punky boys who want a 'bad -a$$ dog' and then don't treat the dog with the respect and authority that breed of dog needs. My brother owns a pitbull mix. She is the sweetest dog EVER! you can trust her with dogs, kids, anyone... but my brother worked HARD at making her that way! He took NO crap from her at all and was not afraid to 'rule with a heavy hand' so to speak. She pretty much ignores everything BUT my brother haha honestly though, Im really starting to get nervous about attacks. My moms dog got attacked just 2 days ago and she is in ICU with stitches from her neck to her tail to repair her spinal column and they are worried about infection due to a belly puncture from the other dog. This was just because they took a morning stroll while on leashes in their own neighborhood. Just NOT fair! |
