Fish Tank Pics! Can those of you with fish tanks post some pics for me? DH and I are looking into adding one to our home, but aren't sure what look we like, or what fish would be good for us! Any suggestions would be helpful :) TIA! |
1 Attachment(s) Here ya go - ours is opposite the computer desk - lol, you can see the monitor screen reflected in the picture. Are you wanting fresh or saltwater fish? Fresh water aquariums are less difficult to maintain and the fish are less expensive in general. My favorite fish for freshwater are our South American cichlids. On the other hand, most of the really pretty fish are saltwater. What size aquarium would you be getting? Attachment 135932 |
Oh that is SO pretty! TO be honest, I don't know what size to get, lol. I'd like it to be a size similar to yours. I am a total fish rookie though and don't know much about tank maintenance and all of the things that go along with it :) |
Thanks, ours is 100 gal. and is a great size for freshwater. If you want to go with saltwater though, a larger tank would be better. As with yorkies there are fish forums and lots of good information on the internet. When you first start out buy cheap fish because most likely a few will die getting your tank seeded. LOL...I pass that on to you, as it was to us, although - one of our "trash" fish is now 4 years old and outlived many of the more expensive fish. Wouldn't you know it and he is ugly too! Another hint - you can go and spend thousands at the pet places for aquariums, if your budget minded though - check newspaper want ads. People want to sell them all of the time and some really good deals are out there. |
4 Attachment(s) aquariums are very addicting to me. I have a 55 gallon and a 45 gallon and they are both freshwater. 55 gallon has chichlids and feeder fish. and also a baby red ear slider. when he gets bigger he will go in the other tank though, so he doesnt eat the chichlids. 45 gallon has goldfish, bala sharks, silver dollars, and a african frog that has lived FOREVER!!! I used to have a blue lobster (crayfish) and he was so cool to watch but one night he tried to make a getaway like nemo. Climbed up and out the filter and made it to the front door of my house before he died. I was really upset. sorry the pics are kinda dark but flash doesnt work on the glass. |

I love fishtanks and always had one growing up. I had angel fish, kissing fish, puffers (my fav.), bumblebees and tons of others. But now, all I can manage to keep is guppies. Lost my fish savvy, I guess:confused: . |

Hi. Saw your post. when i was a fish newbie i came across a place like this but for fish. the website is: www.aquariacentral.com it has some helpful information and a pretty good classified section. i just sold my 29 gallon. the fish were getting sick and it was getting a lot of work on me. and i wanted to devote all my time with Cody. i still have my 10 gallon and i have 1 dwarf gourami, 17 mickey mouse platys. (had a pregnant female and i saved the babies), and i have neon tetras. i love it. its very relaxing to sit and watch them!! good luck w/everything. and try that website out! |
I bought a ten gallon tank and didn't have much luck with tropical fish. I got a goldfish and he died a few days ago... I had him for almost a year. I think one of the new goldfish I got made him sick or something. Fish keeping is very frustrating. I'd love a turtle but I'm not sure if a ten gallon tank is big enough. I've had good luck with bettas though. |
my fishies 4 Attachment(s) i snapped a few pics for you, we have a beta in a small tank, i call him baby boy had him for 2 years the 55 gallon tank we have had many years, the fish all made it through the move which I was glad.... they are freshwater fish..sharks, ( 5-7" long, small tetras, procostomus (12" long), 2 silver dollars...and some others i cant remember the name of them :) a few more pics coming............. |
