My best friends husband is going to Iraq Well, my best friend Ashley, is married to a Navy sailor. Their stationed at Camp Pendleton. He's a medic for the Navy. Well she JUST called me and told me that he found out today that he's leaving in August to go to Iraq. I started crying as soon as she told me. He hasn't been deployed yet. He's only been in the military a month less than my husband has.. my husband joined the Marines in December of 2002, and he joined the Navy in November of 2002. Ashley is all by herself there. She doesn't know anyone. All of her family live in northern CA about 7 hours away. She won't be able to go visit them or stay with them while he's gone, because she's about to start college. I feel so bad for her. My husband hasn't been deployed yet, so I don't know what she will be going through. I told her that Chris and I would go visit her EVERY weekend that we can, and that she's more than welcome to come stay with us for a weekend or whenever she wants. I am so scared for her. Since her and I have been friends for a very long time it's as if my husband was going, because I am upset for her and with her about this. Just wanted to share with you all. My husbands dad is still in Iraq... 30 miles away from Bagdad. It's so hard when you have people you know and love over there. My husband will probably have to be deployed sometime soon also. Most of the guys he works with have already went, or are just coming back. I am just really upset right now. She wasn't crying or anything when she called me, she said she is still in shock, and it probably won't hit her until he leaves. I am just happy that her and him are coming to visit us for 4th of July weekend, that way we can spend some time with him before he goes too. Could you all just please pray for him, and pray that he will be safe and come home okay. Thank you! |
I will pray for him and all the soldiers for a safe return. |
i'll also pray for him. i kow its hard to loose someone when they are going to the war. you just have to remember that its for their country and they are helping us preserve our freedom! (in school around xmas we sent packages over seas to the soldiers in iraq w/ stuff for them to do) |
Melanie, So sorry that your friend's husband is being deployed! We thankfully have all ours back right now except my nephew, who is a civilian and is in charge of a group who haul gas! I pray for his safety every day and that he won't sign up for a second year when his time is up. It has become more a mission than a job for him because of everything that's happened while he has been there. His Dad is retired military and he has really come to understand why his Dad had to be away from them when he was a child! Also, my son's little step-brother will be going back for a second tour also in August! He just still seems like a little boy to me, it breaks my heart! Although he is 25, he cried for his Mom the first time because he was so scared! He is such a precious young man ... like one of my kids! We will certainly keep your friend's husband as well as yours in our prayers!! Tell them "thank you" from our family!! |
aww i'll pray for them too! i had friends that went to iraq! however they all returned safely which made me feel alot better!! |
ill pray for all of the soildors to come home safe |
my uncle just got back a couple of months ago from iraq. As a young couple my husband was thinking about going in to the military a few years back when he was 21 i am sooo glad he didnot i could not stand being anywhere with no family or friends but i respect the soldiers for all they do to protect us i have a lot of family in all parts of the military |
My heart goes out to your friend. It was very hard saying goodbye to my son 2 1/2 short weeks ago. I know that his contengent of Marines (BTT, 4 MEB(A/T)) flew from somewhere in Kuwait (where they've been since May 26th) to Baghdad International yesterday. He'll train for another 10 days to 2 weeks before going to his final location. I'm worried sick now that I know he is in country somewhere. Only 11 1/2 months to go for us! Hugs and support for your friend! Lisa Proud Marine Mom http://server.militarynews.com/globe.../05.26.05.html (2nd article on this link explains my son's mission) |
Hi Melanie, I keep the soldiers in my prayers every day and I will be sure to include Ashely and her husband. It am glad they were given such notice. Now they hae all this time to love eachother and make every moment count before he has to go. My cousin is in the Army and he was told on Nov 30th he had to leave to Iraq the following Sunday, right before Christmas and such a short notice :( but the good news is he came home May 1st and he was able to stay in contact via email and chat. Hopefully your friends husband will be able to stay in touch with her through email and chatting, that does help the time pass. Sending you both lots of hugs and support. |
Thank you so much! Thank you all so very much for your prayers and thoughts! I will be sure to tell Ashley and her husband Justin that you guys are all praying for them! What would I do without all of you? Thank you again! |
I will keep him and all of the soldiers in my prayers, and hope that they all return home safe, very soon. |
