This ain't workin' Since my hysterectomy last year it has been an uphill battle trying to find the correct HRT and dosage. This one is absolutely NOT IT. I cry if you look at me. I cry if you don't look at me. I get irritated when anyone tries to talk to me, but then cry if they don't. I can experience joy, sadness, and anger - all three in about half second. :confuse8: |
Awwww....well, if it makes you feel any better, I do all that without having had a hyster and I'm not on HRT...and I've gone thru MP! Well, I guess I have anyway....I was never so emotional before.....maybe it's just a phase...which is about all I can hope for, LOL! |
Oh honey I know where you are coming from. what really helped me more than HRT was zoloft:D ...well really first it was prozac...now it's zoloft. Patty |
My dr did offer me a prescription for Wellbutrin. Maybe I should take her up on it. |
I think I would give it a try...can't hurt...and you may find it makes all the difference in the world. It did for me:D |
I am on HRT and generic Prozac. I think the combo is really helping. Wellbutrin wouldn't be a bad idea. Just try it and see if that helps. Sorry...been there, done that. Hugs! |

Thanks ya'll! I am definitely going to talk to her about the Wellbutrin - or the Prozac or Zoloft. Right now I feel like I could use all three! lol |
I feel for you - I'm in the same boat - went thru the big M early and it's been downhill ever since - I don't know what to tell you - I'm susposed to be on HRT but had to stop due to the expense and I feel 25 times worse so if you can keep at it - please do - it's worth it if they find what dosage you need.... that and a BIG Martini full of olives. Good luck - ps ....On the wellbutrin - I tried it and couldn't stand it - you may want to get samples of them to start before getting a full prescription filled |
Hi, Iam on hrt, and lexapro:) works really well except i have lost a bit of weight, upsets my stomach a bit, but the doctor says that just temporary, hope you find something to help you:) lexapro is not covered by my insurance company so my doc gives me samples, might want to ask about that:) good luck |
I was precribed Wellbutrin and I thought it was terrible. On the other hand it does wonderful for my mom. I was experiencing depression and anxiety and though it helped my depression it made my anxiety much much worse. :( I haven't been right since.... |
There are so many different kinds. My daughter was on lexipro and it made her gain like 30 lbs in a matter of 2 months. She is on cymbalta now and the dr. just upped her dose. Prozac worked wonders for me for quite a few years but then stopped working. The zoloft seems to be working but when I was going thru all my recent surgery problems he upped it...plus a xanax every once in a while helps too.:D So don't give up if one doesn't work...just keep trying. In fact I went off my hormones all together. Patty |
I am a firm believer in Celexa myself. I have been on it a couple of years and swear by it. Basicly the same thing as Lexipro and does have a generic, so at Walmart is only $4 script..check it out, has worked wonders for me...and V, I am in the same boat, I even asked the dr to write it for 40mg so I could break it in two and get twice the doses in one bottle. |

The only thing this hr has helped with is the hot flashes. I haven't had to stick my head in the freezer once since I started taking them. Its just made all the mood swings, etc worse. |
Well my opinion is GET MORE DRUGS:D The mood swings can really be helped by these meds. Before I was on them no one was safe and I worked in a middle school office. I told the dr. that I was going to go over the counter and take out one of those parents....and I even wanted to kick the dog:eek: Just keep trying different ones 'cause they work different on everyone. Good luck, Patty |
Did they take your ovaries, too! I had everything out at 35 (I'll be 50 next month) and for the first 6 months after the surgery I couldn't take the HRT because it feeds endometriosis. The surgeon couldn't get it all during my surgery so it had to die on its own. My husband used to come in from work at night and look in the front door at the boys to kind of gauge my mood. If it was bad, the boys would shake their heads at him and he'd go down to the chickenhouses for a while. The boys came in from school every day and went straight to their rooms or the woods behind the farm. I could go from crying, to pi**ed off, to morbid at the speed of light:eek: . I stood outside in 20 degree weather barefoot in a t-shirt and shorts, fanning because it felt like I was burning up from the inside out. I went to bed with ice packs under each arm to keep cool. When I could finally take the HRT, I felt like I'd died and gone to heaven. I now take Effexor with the HRT, (along with xanax when my husband died) and I'm kind of:p human now. TAKE DRUGS - IT COULD SAVE A LIFE! (Your family's:D ) |
Hey, I was just wondering how you are doing. Did your dr. call in the wellbutrin? It takes several weeks to kick in and if that doesn't work have your dr. prescribe another and give that one a try. I agree that drugs save lives....anyone around us:D |
I have to admit I liked the Wellubtrin...I took it 2 years ago to stop smoking and have never felt better....no mood swings, hot flashes, feeling stressed out.......nothing at all...and it even worked on the smoking. Smoked for over 37 years and next month will be 2 yrs quit.....for me...it truly is a miracle drug... |
I played the HRT game for a year after my hysterectomy (in 2002, I was 34) and just said "screw it" and went cold turkey. I have been happy ever since, though I don't have much of a sex drive. The hot flashes and night sweats have tapered off to almost never, too. Breast cancer runs in my family and I would rather have no sex drive than get cancer. Talk to your doc about all this;) |
