What to do in Hawaii??? Ok well I'll be on my way to Oahu,Hawaii next weekend :D Im so excited..Anyway so i've read some of you guys have been there before and would like to know what is a MUST do, and NOT do...Ive done some research online and found lots of fun things to do but i'll be there for 2 weeks and need more stuff... I would really appreciate it..Thanks |
i've never been but i'd be interested to hear what people say :) |
If you are going to be there 2 weeks, I would recommend going to some of the other islands. I've only been to Oahu - but everyone says some of the other islands are even more beautiful. On Oahu, this is what we did Wakiki beach Honalulu shopping snorkling in the famous bay that starts with an H  Dole pineapple plantation Cultural Center is a must Diamond Head Pearl Harbor We went to a rain forest right outside of Honalulu - took a guided tour We rented a car and drove the road completely around the island - cool! Watched the surfers on the opposite side of the island from Honalulu That's all I can remember - we were only there 5 days though. I'm sure there is tons more to do and some others will help you out. |
It's been years since I have been but I would suggest going to some of the other islands. It is just a short plane ride and not expensive. Maui has the most beautiful beaches and is not as crowded as Oahu. Kuaie (sp) has lush tropical places and is so green and beautiful. The big island has the volcano which is very interesting. It wasn't active when we were there and we got to drive thru it. Definitely do the other islands. I didn't think I would enjoy it but the boat trip to Pearl Harbor was very interesting. Enjoy. I definitely recommend snorkeling in Hanauma Bay and if you can rent a car and drive up to the North Shore. It's absolutely gorgeous up there!! If you do end up driving to the North Shore, I recommend stopping at the Turtle Bay resort and eating at their beach side restaurant and then going to the public beach there. The water is awesome!! I hope you have a great time!! :D |
i've never been but hope to go one day! |
We had a fun time in Hawaii. I think that everyone should visit the USS Arizona at one time in their lives. It can be really emotional for people with military ties in their family. We rented a convertible and drove all the way around the island, which was really nice. Make sure you stop and buy a fresh pineapple from there. There are also lots of seaturtles on the northwest shore. It is one of the only places in the world that sea turtles will actually come out of the water OTHER than to lay eggs. One of my friends has a picture of her kid next to one sunbathing on the beach. Touching them is illegal though. Have fun! |
I definitely wanna go snorkeling in Hanauma Bay  I read alot of good things about it...Im also planning to go to other islands and see what they have to offer...Thank you guys...I sure am gonna enjoy this trip:p |

What to do in Hawaii??? FIND Tom Selleck (Magnum PI)and BRING HIM TO ME ! |
I went to Oahu about 7 years ago YIKES!! Feels like yesterday sometimes! You gotta do a lu'au (obviously) and I would hike Diamond head (hike to the top, its fun) and then the other obvious is to go to Pearl Harbor. Other than that... we rode one of those ocean bikes, that was kind of cool and we went out to the Dole Plantation and you could learn to surf in the Bonsai Pipeline (best surfing in the world) ... and snorkling at Hanuma Bay! We also did a catamaran dinner cruise which was a BLAST with polynesian dancing! And we went to some reservation where you pick 2 activities from like horse riding, kayaking, atving, etc... and you get an hour with each activity and there are natives doing dances and making things like pots and crowns from tree leaves, there is also amazing cliff diving shows... it was really cool!!! Oh and the marketplace! You gotta go to the marketplace! And see Christian Larson's studio.. hes an artist out there and his work is beautiful!! We also went to some dinner/magic show that was very entertaining! I can't remember the guys name though (this WAS almost 7 years ago, he might not be there anymore) there are NO turtle's in turtle bay! haha We were driving around the island and saw a sign for turtle bay so we went to it and were disappointed that not only could you not swim, but there were no turtles! ;) Hope I helped!!! I loved it out there... I felt sooo at home! |

Only 3 days to go - you lucky girl...wish I could go again with you. :) :) I miss my sister and niece who live there!! Have fun!! If nothing else just relaxing on the beach is the best!! :D Where are you staying? |
Take the flight over to Molokai to see the Father Damien Leper Colonyy (you can only see this on a tour). Take a helicopter tour - especially on Kauaii or the Big Island. Definitely do a surf lesson - tons of fun!! The best luau is the Old Lahaina on Maui, but the Polynesian Cultural Center is pretty decent, too!!! Hike Diamond Head, but do it in the morning and take water and a flash light with you!! Drive around the island - really easy and you can see tons of stuff. If you go to another island, the snorkeling is much better on the Big Island (lots of sea turtles all over the Kona side and fabulous fish, lots of colors and species). Horseback ride. Take a whale watch/dolphin watch boat - not really the season for whales now but you never know!!! Stroll the many beaches, tour the gardens, go to the North Shore, visit the Dole Pineapple Plantation, eat, drink, sun and have fun!!!! |
i just vacationed there a couple of weeks ago. i went to oahu for a wedding and it was beautiful. we stayed in a condo in waikiki but pretty much spent most of the time up in north shore and ko'olina beach (really pretty). definitely go to a luau (i went to germaine's luau...spectacular). pearl harbor is a definite must. matsumoto's shaved ice on north shore is pretty great too. i think that renting a car and driving around the whole island was priceless and i would recommend it. you definitely get to see more of hawaii when you get out of waikiki beach. i was only there for 4 days so i didnt' get to island hop, but i heard it's definitely worthwhile if you have enough time. |
Hopping island sounds like lots of fun..I'll be there 2 weeks so i think for my last week there thats what im gonna do..:p ..Has anyone skydive?? i want to do it but im scared :( .. |

I just came back from Hawaii on Sunday. I was born and raised there. There's a lot of things you could do, but for my 10 day vacation, I did the following: 1. Stayed at Hilton Hawaiian Village (Rainbow Tower) for the first weekend. It was beautiful. It kind of rained a little bit during that weekend though. 2. Went to Ko Olina Lagoon. It's a manmade Lagoon on the west side of Oahu. Very pretty and wasn't very crowded at all. 3. Stayed at my parent's house on the north shore of Oahu. 4. Went spear fishing. 5. Went to the Polynesian Cultural Center 6. Went around the entire island and stopped at all the scenic points such as blow hole, Laie, Chinaman's hat, Turtle Island, etc. 7. Ate at Giovanni's Shrimp Truck in Haleiwa as well as Matsumoto's Shaved Ice (get it with ice cream and red beans). YUM!!! 8. Dived off the big rock at Waimea Beach. 9. Went shopping in Ala Moana. 10. Took pictures at Hanauma Bay. 11. Visited my grandpa and cousin's grave at Punch Bowl. Also took some pictures there. It has a great view of Waikiki, Downtown Honolulu, Pearl Harbor, etc. 12. Went to my old stomping grounds in Pearl City, Kalihi, Kapolei, Ewa Beach and bought my essential Hawaii snacks: mochi crunch (for my popcorn at the movies), li hing mui gummy candies, and ate as much Zippys plate lunches and taro pies at McDonalds I could handle. Hope you find something you want to do from my list! Have fun! |
