Don't know if you all heard...but I hope he gets the same treatment that he gave his dogs! :mad:

Vick was indicted with three others by a federal grand jury in Virginia. Vick, Purnell A. Peace, Quanis L. Phillips and Tony Taylor are accused of staging often-fatal dogfights since at least 2002 through their Bad Newz Kennels on Vick's property in Surry County, Va.

The four also are charged with transporting dogs across state lines for fights. Conviction on the "Travel Act" laws carries a maximum prison term of five years and a $250,000 fine. Conviction on conducting an animal-fighting venture can be punished by either a one-year sentence, a $100,000 fine or both.

The Surry property, purchased by Vick in 2001, was raided in April by police, who said they found 55 American pit bull terriers and equipment associated with dogfighting.

The 19-page indictment cites eyewitness accounts from three confidential witnesses. It alleges that in April about eight pit bulls were executed by Vick, Peace and Phillips by methods that included "hanging, drowning and slamming one dog's body to the ground."

It also says in March 2003 that Peace consulted with Vick about a female pit bull's condition after losing a fight and that execution followed.

Purses for fights staged on Vick's property are alleged to have been as high as $26,000 and to have drawn kennels from at least seven states.

Phone calls to Vick's attorney Larry Woodward were not immediately returned. After the April raid, Vick said he rarely visited the property and was unaware of any illegal activity there.

The NFL said it would monitor the case. "The activities alleged are cruel, degrading and illegal," an NFL statement said. "Michael Vick's guilt has not yet been proven, and we believe that all concerned should allow the legal process to determine the facts. The matter will be reviewed."

Another article on Yahoo said there was a "rape stand" found for mating the pitbull females - it sounds really awful.

Ugh. That disgusts me. Celebrities and the wealthy can do so much to advocate animal rescue and welfare, but instead they do this. :mad:

All I can say is I hope the courts GO AFTER HIM with all they can and MAN ....someone with more money than most of us will ever see has to resort to TORTURE to get MORE money ?

They're ALL sick and all involved should be charged and made to pay heavy heavy fines to aid Shelter Dogs AND get jail time. Those poor dogs.

these people who train these poor dogs HANG them by their teeth to strenghten their jaws among other horrific things - like using bait dogs - I cant wrap my mind around it

that is outrageous. i started tearing up watching the video and only stopped not even halfway because it was so sad. it's heartbreaking.

This type of behavior from so called celebrities and sports icons should be punished even more so because these are the people that children look up to. What kind of sick example are they setting for kids today? They can be using their status for preventing these types of things instead they are promoting animal cruelty.... makes me sick

This infuriates me and breaks my heart at the same time. Those poor dogs.:( I heard on the radio where the dogs who lost fights would be electrocuted and tortured.:mad:

How would Mike Vick like it if he was treated that way everytime he lost a football game?

I hope he gets the maximum sentence and that his money doesn't get him off.

Yes, LovemyJake, he was beating, drowning and electrocuting dogs! He is a sick man, and I hope that he is nailed for this! I love pits, and think they get a bad wrap, and people like Vick just make that stereotype all the worse.

This makes me so mad.

At most he will get 6 yrs in jail, which is not nearly enough. I'm afraid he won't just get any time in jail and just community service which is not nearly enough.

A "rape stand" is used to breed pit bulls when they are so trained to fight that they can't even overcome the urge to fight when its time to breed.

When training pits, they don't really "hang" them by their teeth. What it is, is they have a device called a "springpole" that is a rope with a biting device hanging from a pole. The pits then jump up to get the biting device and hang from it, trying to pull it from the ground. My pittie who has never been trained to fight and will never be, LOVES spring poles. I didnt even know what one was, but she used to use a playground rope and do the same. Thats when I found out what they were.
