PETA Has Bone To Pick With Brit Over New Pup http://entertainment.msn.com/hotgossip/?GT1=7702 Britney Spears has plenty on her plate these days, what with two tots in diapers, an unstable living situation, a long-delayed comeback album and a jam-packed schedule of club-hopping, extension-detangling and paparazzi posing. But that hasn't stopped the matted-maned, meltdown-disposed cautionary tale from buying a new puppy, a decision that has People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals saying "ruh-roh." People reports Brit, whom you'll recall was voted the World's Worst Dog Owner last year, popped by Pets of Bel Air on Friday and made a beeline for the dog section, where she was immediately smitten with an adorable $3,000 Yorkshire terrier. "She picked up the dog and loved it right away," a bystander tells the magazine. Spears, whose three previous pets -- Bit-Bit, Lucky and Lacy -- were reportedly given the heave-ho ("We gave all the dogs to friends of ours," her not-quite-ex-hubby Kevin Federline told Teen People last September. "It's just too much with the kids and all these dogs running around all over the place. It just wasn't really working."), quickly plunked down her credit card and strutted out cradling the teeny and likely trembling tail-wagger. We decided to ask PETA what they thought of Britney's apparent impulse buy, and, not surprisingly, the up-with-animals group isn't convinced her purchase of a furry, four-legged and nonjudgmental new companion is a case of puppy love. "Britney needs a new puppy about as much as Lindsay Lohan needs a drink," PETA Vice President Dan Mathews tells MSN Entertainment. "She can barely look after herself and her kids, and she's tossed away so many dogs before. The only dog Britney is responsible enough to care for is a stuffed toy." Matthews' advice for Spears: "She needs to surrender him to her local shelter for placement in a real home." So did Britney, who recently picked up a parakeet at Petco and was also seen snuggling a pink-sweatered Chihuahua in January, prove the naysayers wrong by acting like a responsible pet owner this weekend, perhaps by taking the puppy for a walk with sons Sean Preston, 22 months, and Jayden James, 10 months, or gently working on some training techniques? Not so much. Shutterbugs snapped Brit, whose weekend style statements ranged from a Daisy Duke-ish halter-top to the pink wig Natalie Portman wore to play a stripper in "Closer," one-handedly toting the hapless canine to a dance studio and carrying it into a nightclub, where X17.com reports it was "crying all night and found comfort only in Brit's arms." As for the Yorkie's name, People says she's dubbed it London, which just happens to be one of the monikers she was mulling over while pregnant with Sean Preston (it was an apparent homage to the landmark locale of her fateful first hookup with K. Fed). "Ever since I was a little girl, I thought, for a boy, I love Sean Preston -- or London Preston," Britney told Elle in 2005. "Isn't London pretty?" |
Brittany is nuts. I love what they said, "Britney needs a new puppy about as much as Lindsay Lohan needs a drink" HAHAHA |

What a worthless $&*#@$^! |
All I can say is B. I. M. B. O. I usually don't get into celeb stuff but that girl is missing her compassionate gene. WHO takes a puppy into a nightclub ? What a jerk. |
Oh yeah---Milo and I party alllllll night long. I can't imagine all the lights, music, smoke and noise------poor puppy.:( |
OH Yea...I take M&M in clubs with me all the time - they just love it. Ha, ha - JUST KIDDING you guys....... :p :p Brittany is a freaking train wreck for sure - I want to go steal her puppy and give it a safe home with Murphy and Mia!! :D |
I'm not going to bad mouth her or any other young star because first off they need help, not criticism. I don't think they had a stable upbringing, and now it's too much too soon and they have no ground rules. |

But your right ... who am I to judge. :) |

Obviously PETA is knowing for getting their facts right. This is coming from the organization who believes keeping pet birds (along with other pets, I am sure) is wrong and who has themselves killed over 10,000 animals. |

Rich or poor - famous or a nobody - that poor puppy does NOT need to be dragged around to nightclubs - I'm surprised anyone let them in the door - but then again - alot of the world doesn't feel the intense compassion for dogs like we do.:( |

I didn't even realize she'd gotten a new puppy! His/Her backend looks cute and fluffy. Wonder what the front looks like! No matter who the owner is, I do have to feel badly for it being toted to a nightclub. I LOVE to take Sukoshi with me as much as possible, but I even turn down the radio for her in my car so it isn't loud for her little ears. I can't imagine a nightclub! |
I'm sorry to all of the Brit fans, but she is stupid. That puppy is so young and it needs to stay to go home to a nice quiet place to get accumulated. She's terrifying it by dragging it around to show off to stores and clubs. I can imagine the flashing camera lights freaking the poor puppy out. It's obviously not old enough for all of it's shots so it shouldn't be dragged around everywhere. |

Clearly, no amount of money in the world can purchase common sense. |
That girl has no common sense! She needs to spend her money on some counseling. |

IMO, it doesn't matter what kind of family you were raised in. There are just common sense things normal people know - like not to take a brand new puppy into a million night clubs. I used to be one of Brit's biggest fans - in her Oops, I Did It Again days. I can remember sitting on my Grandma's couch when I was about 6 watching a video of Brit, and my Grandma said "By the time she's 21 her life will be totally screwed up." Well, I think she hit the nail on the head with that one. Britney doesn't need another dog, she needs to get help. |
yeah... also gotta love the way she holds the dog like its a stuffed animal.. http://thesuperficial.com/image.php?...candids-01.jpg http://thesuperficial.com/image.php?...candids-03.jpg http://thesuperficial.com/image.php?...candids-04.jpg http://thesuperficial.com/image.php?...candids-05.jpg the last pic looks like she might drop it!! |

Poor little baby being dangled like that..not natural for a pup at all...if she really cared for that pup she would be cradling it lovingly in her arms and protecting it, not carrying it like a purse! and whats with that awful pink wig? suppose she needs something to cover her shaven head..but pink? eeewww.. |

I've seen footballs carried with more care - that girl makes me sick. Why even have a dog if you're going to torture it ? that puppy can be comfortable and holding him/her like that can crush ribs. what a BIMBO she is. Grrrrrrrr and yes - she bought her puppy in a pet store - first black mark ....THEN I just read she sold her other dogs as part of the furnishings when she sold a house ? This girl should be on the DNA list (do not adopt to) and the DO NOT SELL TO list if there was such a list. |
