So Frustrated!! I just have 2 vent. 2day I was out getting a few things with the baby. Somehow while I was parked in the parking lot I got a flat tire!! I didn't even notice until I was in the car driving. I had 2 drive all the way home (about 15-20 minutes) with a flat, with my son in the backseat! I was so scared and I couldn't stop crying. I could hear the rim scraping the floor all the way home and could even smell something kind of burning. Thank God we got home safe! |
oh wow that sucks! no AAA? glad you got home safe thank god when i got a flat i was alone in the car and close to home. I had to sit on the side of the road for three hours but eventually AAA sent someone. |
awww I'm sorry about your day. I'm so happy you and the baby are safe..... must of been scary for you. |

Sorry to hear about your flat tire today, it can be very scary. |
That is a big bummer. I dont know which would have been worse, sitting on the side of the road with a flat or the a** chewing I would have gotten when I got home for driving all the way home and ruining the rim. LOL......that would have been a hard one. Sorry you were upset and I hope hubby didnt get too mad at you for it. Tomorrow will be a better day.:) |
Yikes, glad you two made it home safetly. So did the rim get bent? |
Don't you have a cell phone? I made my girls learn how to change a tire before I turned them loose with a car. Now days I would not reccommend a woman changing a tire by herself. Leaves you to vulnerable but couldn't you have called someone? |
Awww!.... That stinks....I know how you feel when I got my first flat I cried like a baby.....it probably was better you kept going, there are to many weirdo's out the waiting for a time when your vulnerable...better a ruined rim than being hurt.... We women all should take a basic car repair course for our own good, why should we wait for some man to rescue us.... |
If the puncture in the tire is small enough--a can of "fix a flat" will get you home. It's an expansion foam that you spray into your tire through the stem tha fills the tire and seals the leak. You can not have the tire reparied and have to get a new tire --but------ that is still cheaper than a new rim. Oh the joys of being a woman.;) |

- and I agree about the basic car repair course!! you never think it's necessary until you're stuck in a situation! |
We've always gotten slow leaks that we generally find when the car is in the driveway and they can repair the tire. I found out recently, the hard way of course, that if you do not pull over IMMEDIATELY you get something they called "flot rot"?? and they cannot repair the tire even if it's a puncture. I only pulled up about 1/4 mile to get to a spot where I could safely pull over, but it ruined the tire. Luckily it didn't ruin the rim. My husband showed me how to change the tire, but I'm not strong enough (and I'm no wimp) to get the tire off. Luckily I wasn't far from home and he came and helped me, but I would hate to get stuck on the highway! Scary! We buy our tires from discount tire and get the warranty. Normally I think warranties are a waste of money but I've probably gotten 4 flats fixed + 1 new tire. They will fix your tires practically for free until they are worn out. It's really a good deal. |
