How sad. Ellie has never been to a groomer because I don't trust any of them. I just cut her hair myself. It is not professional but Ellie's hair doesn't part in the middle like most Yorkies anyway so it isn't a Yorkie cut. I just put my index and middle finger on her skin and pull her hair up through them. I cut the hair on top of my fingers so it is all the same length (about a centimeter) and is uniform. It works quite well for me except her face looks a little weird but oh well. It is better than putting her through all the stress of a groomer. If I ever had to take her to a groomer I would insist on watching the entire process every time. That includes the bath. She would also be hand dried. It would make me very suspicious if they tried to hide any part of the process. I don't even trust the places with the windows because you probably can't hear behing them. What if your dog was hurt and crying? You would never know. I just let Ellie be scraggily and I am happy with that. |
I groomed Cassie myself for the longest time because she is such a shy fearful little thing. (Rescued shi tzu) but then I found Lisa and my life changed. Cassie loves her, Ivan is jumping into the tub without being told and Adie comes back looking like a little princess. Now I KNOW I can't groom Adie - she is just too difficult. The last time I picked up the girls Lisa was holding Cassie and rocking her in her arms and her assistant had Adie in her arms getting all the kisses a pup can give a human! Neither one of them acted particularly glad to see me!!!! When I pretended to leave again they put up a squawk but wow. For those two to act like that I know I've got a good thing going. I love LIsa to death and am very fortunate to have found her. I hope she never retires! |

Buddy looks beautiful but something went wrong last time and he bit her. He has never done that before to any groomer. I am going to ask to stay next time (6wks) and if she say's no I will have to leave her. I don't want to but I feel uneasy since that episode. Something happened and I don't know what it was. Those poor dogs. How sad to think your leaving your beloved pet with a professional and he's dead or injured when you pick him up. I wouldn't know how to handle that. I'd probably go nuts and hurt someone. |
Wow. That is scary. So glad I do my own grooming. |
