NYC Help! Call me crazy but I have a friend coming to see me from Alaska and she really wants to go to the city next Saturday! I live in Albany and can't really afford to take the train so I need to drive. Is this totally unrealistic? I've never been to the city so I'm quite terrified but she really has her heart set on going. Can anyone help me figure out how to do this? Thanks, Kim |
Whoa! You've never been to NYC? YOU'RE IN FOR A TREAT! Its my fave city in the world (sshhhh, don't tell Chicago). I wouldn't drive if I were you. You'll spend more trying to find somewhere to park. |
I'm from Alaska and just moved here in November and I've been too scared to go by myself ;) I'm still in culture shock from moving here! Yea, I'm trying to figure out a plan and not having much luck! I've always wanted to go to Chicago too! Hopefully soon since my dad is moving to Illinois in July! |

Ok NYC people! I'm thinking of taking the train from Poughkeepsie to Grand Central! Then what should I do with her? I'm hopelessly overwhelmed and need help. Anyone know where I could find a great tourist map of the city? |

We drive in all the time, it's not too bad on weekends as the traffic is much worse during the week. My daughter used to do commericals and when she went on weekend calls we drove, weekday calls we took the train ENJOY - You will love it. Be sure to check out the store on Broadway, I think it's called Trixie and Peanut? |

There is Broadway, Central Park, World Trade Center area - haven't been there since Christmas but then they had a walkway. Go shopping on 5th ave If it gets real hot there is a GREAT wax museum right there on Braodway, can't remember the name Madam Tussain's or something like that, we went at Christmas time |
YAY!! Help and I soooo need it! When you drive in how is parking? Everyone keeps telling me that parking is the worst? Thanks for the sites! Wexy, gwampa is moving to southeast Illinois near the Missouri border but I'm excited cuz its much closer than Texas and mama drives us all over the country to visit people! |
I got so excited about the help I burnt my french fries ;( |

EXAMPLE: We started by driving to Battery Park where the statue of liberty is (usually can find parking on street), then drove to South Seaport (again parking there on weekends for free on street).....then went to China Town (again parked on the street for free) then headed down towards Broadway (we stayed on Broadway so parking was with the hotel, but you can usually find lots with day prices. From Broadway area you can walk or take the subway to Central Park, 5th ave, Empire State Building, all within walking distance from Broadway, we walked all the rest the days we were there and it was COLD as it was Christmas |
