I heard they tested it on the Today show this morning and it wouldn't work.. haha. Matt called Meredith and it kept going to voicemail and when he sent a picture it wouldn't completely come in. |

i'll let you know later how it works :) i'm hoping it's not impossible to get one around here. sounds like a mad house in NY. thankfully our local apple store is in a mall so there is no camping out allowed. |

I'm very excited! about today. I'm an apple big fan. I'm not planning on buying today though. I will wait until Christmas that is when hubby promise me he is going to buy it for me:D .Plus, in other words he wants to wait for the next generation. I love gadgets. I would rather spend 500 bucks on something like that than a coach purse, no way I will pay that much money for a purse. I don't like purses to begin with.:p |
So Pepe Mint, it's Friday where you one of the lucky ones??.... |

we got it!!! well actually just the bf did. i dont have that kind of money!! we went to the 5th ave apple store, i was number 177 or something, got there around 10am. the wait wasnt bad at all. they gave out free water and magazines, everyone was so nice. definitely over 300 waiting in line. anyway, the phone is awesome, we were playing with the display for 20 minutes in the store. amazing what this phone can do! he still has to activate it (using itunes). i'll get it when the price goes down. i hope others were lucky enough to get one!! anyone else??? |

mattymac, did your bf get a leather case? I got one but it isn't really what i had in mind to get, I think i will look online to see what is out there.. |
I don't hink the prices are going down on this puppy, reason why is b/c it is everything in one. It is not going to be cheaper than a regular ipod. I'm glad hubby is going to get for me, but not until christmas:) |
I've seen the commercials, and those iphones look really awesome. Unfortunately I have another year on my contract, and my carrier isn't compatible with the iphone, but in a year. . . I'll be shopping around!!! |
luckily we were anticipating the iphone and when our contract was up with our old carrier, we switched to cricket for no contract. now we were free to change carriers..so i am happy that hubby is enough of a geek to think that these would be coming out a long time ago :) i am just waiting for activation to complete...apparently they are a little bombarded over at at&t :) but those that have theirs activated are LOVING it. i'm excited. did I mention that I am excited??? :) |

You guys all suck! Alaska doesn't even get the iphone because AT&T doesn't serve here, and they have an exclusive contract for 5 years! But the good news is it looks like AT&T is buying out Cellular One, so maybe we'll get it before then. I want one bad. I just bought a cheap replacement phone when my razr died because I was counting on upgrading. |

I got one but it isn't really what i had in mind to get, I think i will look online to see what is out there..[/QUOTE] He was looking at them but wasn't really sure. Some are kinda bulky. I think he wants a sort of invisible shield, like they make for ipods. Congratulations on getting yours!! |

i waited in line and got hubby an iphone. i think i'm going to wait for the next gen myself 'cause i don't see any reason for both of us having the same phone especially since i'm still under contract with mine. he activated it late friday nite 'cause we heard that the activation was slow during the day due to the influx of activity on the network with everyone trying to kick start their phone. imho, if you don't already have a smartphone (like we didn't) it is absolutely worth it to buy the iphone. the physical design of the phone is just beautiful and the user interfaces are very intuitive. navigation through all the functionalities are easy and straightforward. the internet is a bit slow on the phone when compared to a computer, but i don't have a smartphone on a different carrier to say if it's consistent with other smartphones out there like the treo, blackberry or sidekick. it has all the functionalities one would need when on-the-go. google maps, internet, weather, push email, video/audio ipod, visual vmail, sms (no chat tho :( ), scratch-proof touchscreen, etc etc. sure there are other smartphones, some cheaper, that can do the same things, but it's not really a matter of "what" it does but "how" it does it. afterall, what makes one buy a lexus rather than a ford escort? they both have 4 wheels and get you from point a to point b, but it's HOW it functions that makes it different and add to a product's value. and i'm not quite understanding why some people are griping that the service plans are "outrageous". service plans for the iphone starts at $60 a month for unlimited data access and 450 anytime minutes, 5000 nights/weekends, free mobile-to-mobile. comparatively, verizon's plans start at $80/month for 450 anytime mins and i don't know if it's unlimited data access. sprint/nextel charges $50/month unlimited data acccess and minutes costs .20/min unless you have a talk plan along with it. so, it looks like the at&t plan is pretty competitive... or am i missing something? all in all, if you already have a smartphone that you're happy with or if you just don't need a smartphone, i don't see the sense in spending $500-600 for a new one just because it's the newest cool kid on the block. but if you don't have one or are looking to buy a new one, i'd definitely go to the store and give the iphone a try. you'll fall in love with it. |
