Author recommendations? I have really been into John Grisham the last few months. So much so that I'm running out of things to read! Anyone else really into his style of writing and topics? What other authors would I like? Thanks for any suggestions!! |
I'm not sure, but have you ever read some of the books by Dan Brown? He wrote The DaVinci Code, but he has several other great books. Angels and Demons was really good (it's kind of the prequel to The DaVinci Code, but it doesn't really having anything to do with it). And he also wrote Digital Fortress and others. |
I've been on a Harlan Coben kick for the past year. Also really like Dennis Lehane a lot, too. (In love with his male detective character. Now it's ruined for me because silly Ben Affleck put his kid brother in the role of a guy who is in his late 30s!) |
I'm more into Mysterys but Grisham is great - for Legal suspense - Scott Turrow, Linda Fairstein & Stuart Woods are really good these are the writers I really like for regular mysteries- Ann Rule - (GREAT True Stories) Patricia Cornwell James Patterson I hardly read anymore but have always loved it and I used to be able to put one away in a few days cause I HAD to know the ending - now they put me to sleep after 10 pages LOL - it sucks getting older |
I don't read John Grisham so I can't compare, but I just love Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plus series. They are just a fun read - I can read one in a day or weekend, but they are funny. The first one is One for the Money and book 13 just came out. I'm also looking for a new author or series. Right now I'm just waiting for the new Harry Potter... |
Stuart Woods(in V's post) is great! Especially his Stone Barrington novels... Have you tried Sandra Brown? she is great! good luck! I end up in your shoes alot, I read 2 or 3 n ovels a week sometimes and have read just about everyone I can find.... d |
V -- If you like mysteries/suspense, definitely give Coben a try. You might like him. |
For mysteries I love John Sandford. His Lucas Davenport series is set in the Twin Cities and they're a little racey, but he has a great writing style. |
Have you read any of Nancy Taylor Rosenburg's books? Or the ABC mysteries by Sue Grafton? Patricia Cornwall's books and one of my most recent favorites is Barbara Seranella~ it's good to start out with her books from the beginning b/c the main character is the same and she evolves from one to the next....loosely based on the author's earlier life too. |
