Feeling down and depressed My job search is going nowhere . I had several interviews and each time my candidacy was not retained either bacause they filled the position internally, or I'm over qualified for the position or they found someone who has more experince in the brokerage industry or someone who has his licence .... I'm ready to give up .. |
I've never understood how someone can be overqualified. The way that I would look at it is you haven't found the position meant for you. Keep searching, you'll find it ;) |
Oh man...take a deep breath. You can do it, just keep on doing what you're doing. |
Keep up the search, if it's meant to be...it will be!!! |
Job hunting is the pits! I'll cross my fingers for you that the perfect opportunity presents itself:) |
sorry things seem so hopeless right now, but hang in there something will come your way:) please keep your head up, i know it will happen for you if you keep the faith:) best wishes to you and hugs.:bighug: |
hang in there....everything happens for a reason......those jobs probably werent good enough for YOU :) keep looking and ::smile::: |
Hey you know what . I think you need to look higher. If they say you are over qualified then go higher. Don't be afaid to be the one to call them and ask if the job is yours. YT is here for ya Hun. and we wont let you fall :) |
I know what you're going through. It took me months to find the job that I'm at now. Have you considered temping while you are looking? That way you can earn money but still have flexibility to go to interviews and such. This is what I did and it worked great for me. |
I know exactly how you feel. I'm going through the same thing right now. I just graduated from college and now I'm job hunting and it is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I'm so depressed, and every day I'm ready to just give up. I'm going to a job fair tomorrow where they do massive interviewing for all of the counties in florida, so hopefully I will leave there with a job. I'm crossing my fingers and just hoping for the best. I will do the same for you. Good luck with your job searching! If you need to talk, I'm here. |

I feel for you! I had terrible luck finding a job out of college. My first job was beyond horrible - like crying every night horrible, then I worked for a shady company and quit before they went under. I ended up taking a job I was "overqualified" for - it only requires HS no college and the pay reflects that. But, it has good benefits. I am lucky they took me because I need the insurance, but it's quite boring. You can't walk into an interview and explain that you need a job to pay the bills and get insurance. You have to convince them you really, really want this job that you are totally overqualified for... It's not easy. Good luck. Hopefully the job market will pick up soon. |
I've never understood how someone can be overqualified. Around here it means you probably won't be satisfied with the job and could leave them high and dry when you found something better. I do wish you luck in your search, I too will be looking soon. The company I work for isn't doing so well since the hurricane 2 years ago and has cut everyone's hours down to 30. Keep looking hun, just means there is something better out there waiting for you. ;) |
I truly understand what you are going through.....My job was eliminated Christmas of 2005, after 26 years with the company....I sent my resume out to all the companies and most did not reply... They look at 26 years experience and they say "she's too old, or wants more money than they are willing to pay". I am still looking.....I'm working for a friend who owns a Tack/Feed store..I lift 50 lbs. of grain and hay and most days I'm on my feet for well over 7 hours....Its paying the bills....Keep looking, try a Temp Agency they do all the leg work for you........ |
Thank you for your kind messages, definetely I will keep looking till I find a job as there is no other way around :) |
