Hi there, here's a link to a bunch of gr beef recipes. http://homecooking.about.com/library...e/blbeef36.htm I hope it helps. I remember what you're saying about being pregnant and avoiding certain foods. I swear, my mother had 101 recipes for gr beef and right now I can't remember any of them!!! |
My family likes cheeseburger pie. You take your ground beef and brown it with a little onion, put it in a baking dish top with shredded cheese, then mix up a little bisquik until it about pancake batter thickness pour enough on top to just cover and bake at 400 till brown,my kids love it. |

A lady at work brought her own recipe in Friday for us to try. It's Mexican lasagna. She gave us her recipe: 2 lb ground beef, browned with onion, and well drained afterwards 6 large flour tortillas 2 pkg taco seasoning salsa shredded Mexican mix cheese She sprayed a 9X13 casserole dish with Pam then put enough of the tortillas on the bottom to cover it. (She said to cut the tortillas to fit with kitchen shears) Then layer with the meat mixture, salsa then cheese and layer finishing up with the cheese. Bake at 350 until lightly browned and bubbly. We had a great lunch and served it with shredded lettuce, black and green olives, salsa, cheese, tortilla chips and ice cream for dessert. |
I make a mexican dish with hamburger. Brown a pound of hamb with a chopped up onion. Add a can of tomatoe paste and a can of chunky tomatoes (adjust the moisture so that it is not too runny). Then add whatever mexican seasoning you like - maybe some salsa, cumin, or chili pepper, etc (taco seasoning would work also). You can also add a can of green chilies. Soften corn tortillas by putting them in a paper towel in the microwave with a cup of water in there also - for about 10 sec. Or you can heat a can of chicken broth in a pan a little larger around than the tortillas, to almost boiling and put the corn tortillas (one at a time) in for about 5 secs. Or if you are in a fat mood (and of course, this tastes best), heat some oil and put the corn tortillas in one at a time for about 5 sec (then drain on paper towels - I stack them with a paper towel between each tortilla) Then, on a plate, in layers: tortilla ground beef mix cheese tortilla ground beef cheese You can make it 2 layers, 3 layers or 4 layers, whatever you want. Then, I put the plate in the microwave a few seconds to melt the cheese on top (the middle cheese gets melted by the hot meat). Last, I surround the layered tortillas with lettuce and tomatos - it makes a really pretty dish and is VERY VERY good! |

Dirty rice. Zatarain's mix is really good, but if you want you can look up recipes to make it from scratch. It's easy, cheap, and yummy! |
How about Tater Tot Casserole? Its my favorite and I just added it to the cookbook. INGREDIENTS 1 pound ground beefDIRECTIONS Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef with the onions. Drain excess fat, and season with salt and pepper to taste. In a casserole dish, layer the ingredients in this order: Ground beef and onions, Cream of Mushroom Soup, and the Shredded Cheese. Arrange the tater tots evenly over the shredded cheese and bake in preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and tater tots are browned. |
