Awww, I know how that is. Luckily, my baby will be a service dog, and apartments are required to allow me to keep him regardless of their pet policy. But I still have my cat to worry about. :rolleyes:

I'm wondering if I should go ahead and get her licensed as a therapy dog (I have diagnosed depression)...

The thing that really ticks me off is that my little baby that is 1/2 the size of a cat isn't allowed, but cats are allowed almost EVERYWHERE! :thumbdown

You are wondering if you should get your cat licensed as a therapy dog?

Isn't that kind of lying to the system?

Do you live in a city? I live in a city, and actually didn't find it that hard to find pet-friendly housing.

No she was saying to get her yorkie licensed as a therapy dog and was just stating that her dog is 1/2 the size of a cat and still isn't allowed in most apts, but cats are usually.

Good luck on the apt hunting! Hope you find something!

Good luck with your search. That policy doesnt make sense much like in school when we werent allowed to wear shorts but you could wear skirts.... Never understood that on either...

I live in a city of 45,000. All of the apartments are either REALLY nice or REALLY disgusting, there's NO in between.

And only the most disgusting of the disgusting allow dogs :( And we can only afford so much while I'm in school full-time :thumbdown

I never got that rule, either. LOL Then we also had the rule that your shorts/skirts had to be at least finger-tip length when hanging your arms to the side - but the girls would just hike them up and pull them down when necessary. Or they'd slouch, or scrunch their fingers up :rolleyes:

Gosh I know! We just went through this actually! Thank gosh we finally after months and months found someplace. Had to pay a little more, but we found someplace!!! Good luck!

Maybe you could try to find a condo to rent. Someone who owns the condo and will accept animals. Have you looked in your local paper? I know how hard it is. Back when we were renting, it was sooo hard to find a place that would accept dogs, even tiny ones! It's extremely frustrating, and I think more places should be pet friendly.

I can so relate. When I was renting it was so hard to find a place to allow dogs, I had to pay a huge security deposit and a monthly pet fee, AND a cleaning fee before moving out, it stunk majorly bad. And even the crappiest apartments wouldn't allow a small dog, it was just insanity.

I always say call ALL the apts in the newspaper.. you'd be surprised that some people will allow it if you really explain the situation. I know having a training certificate can help in a lot of situations. I got probably 70 nos before I got one yes, so just keep trying!! :)

Thats a good idea...it seems like a ridiculous idea for an apartment owner to refuse a 2 lb well behaved little yorkie.
